- Chimpanzees have much better short term memories compared to humans. Humans traded short-term memory (away) in order to get other evolutionary traits, I am thinking: Planning, forecasting (predicting the future), reasoning, analogy e.t.c kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKS7gWunmqt5bKM - The chunking bit appears to have a lot of weight to it (Miller's Magic Number 7/ Plus Minus 2). There's got to be a reason for Miller's paper to be the most cited paper in psychology. - That being said, I think we should come up with new kinds of tests, realizing the fact that our short-term memory recall isn't so great. I am not sure what those tests are going to be. But they would involve spatial and temporal elements.
