Around 30:00, I'm puzzled. Shouldn't it be a different sigma for the desintegration of Co59 than for the production of Co60? It could desintegrate into something else, couldn't it? Or is it a lucky case where the only neutron interaction that can change the element is neutron capture?
@coding_ne_095 ай бұрын
I think not. cz the Co-59 interact with neutron and make Co-60. so the sigma for disintegration is the absorption cross-section and the value of (sigma * flux density) will create only Co-60. Though I am replying about 2 years later.. but if I'm wrong in some concept then pls make correct my thought. thanks ..

Brilliant lectures! I really enjoy them even though my field is electrical engineering. I love the presentation style.

What would the classes 2202 and 2204 be ? I would love a reference so I can start learning those subjects so this makes a bit more sense. Seems like he references 2202 alot ! I want to sit inside this guy's lectures one day !!! 😫

has anybody calculated the time for maximum profit? i tried solving with a spreadsheet and euler's method, but i got mixed up with converting microCuries to mass. i got to 8.6*E-10g of Co-60 costs 100 dollars, which doesn't sound right at all.

I've seen all the classes at to this point and I'm surprissed that no one answer to him! I think there's only one guy who is brilliant but he doesn't participate that much. Anyway what a magnificent mind this guy has! It would be an honor to me to attend his classes Greetings from Argentina!

The class response all this time has been ridiculous! There's pin-drop silence every time the prof. asks a question! I thought these guys were students of the most esteemed university in the world.
@trevrockslml6944 жыл бұрын
I thought the same! Some of the questions I answer to myself but it surprises me that nobody answer to him, he's an outsanding teacher, Ican't believe my eyes when he asks something and the answer is silence

It's a lot of new info incoming at once. You sit in stunned silence not because you are bored, but because you are *barely keeping up*.

Speaking from experience, I can tell you that lack of confidence to make a mistake often stops students from giving the right answer in public, however large the class is.
@colinpitrat86393 жыл бұрын
Same here. I'm so sad for the teacher! Maybe they've been bullied through high school for answering questions and stopped?
@NATIK0013 жыл бұрын
Been in that situation a lot myself, it's not lack of knowing the answer which is stopping them. It's that confidence is lacking. If these guys can sit the exams and do the problem sets they have these answers, its just not as easy to give them when put on the spot in front of your peers. I certainly wasn't the quickest to yell out when I studied physics myself.
