what i really love about mitski is that... it really takes time to let her music grow on you. she’s not a sensational hit that can please just anyone. i can imagine the people that have no idea who mitski is, won’t really think twice about her or think that she’s pretty generic. but she actually isn’t. her music is just so raw and melancholy... especially her lyrics. it’s very deep and poetic. once you’ve given a chance to properly learn who mitski really is, you really start to appreciate her as an artist and her music/song writing. her music really is a work of art.

@marcie557

really? i think mitski’s writing talent is one of the best ones i’ve encountered... all of her lyrics sounds really poetic and carefully crafted. especially “last word of a shooting star”. if you want an actual straightforward lyrics, i suggest listening to melanie martinez. i bought the crybaby ep, but the girl really needs to work on her writing skill.

i would argue that she's a really good lyricist... the line "did you know the liberty bell is a replica / silently housed in its original walls? / and while its dreams played music in the night / quietly, it was told to believe" will always be one of my favorites.

I love singing along to this and harmonizing with it. I'm trans male and I started taking testosterone a year and a half ago. I found this song a year ago and practicing it helped so much with my range and taught me how to get used to a lower tone since I sang an octave lower than the original. My voice when I identified as a girl was scratchy and weak, but because of this song I love my voice now, it's amazing, deep, strong, I have great range. I love it. But I wasnt even thinking about that while I sang along to this. I related to it so much because I've been in a really intense depression since 7th grade when I was told we were moving across the country. I havent been able to make friends for a long time because of it. I'd be friends with someone for a year, I'd date someone for a couple months, and then I'd just be stuck in a period of intense, God awful loneliness. This song spoke to me and changed my voice. And now mitski is my goddamn idol

As much as ‘Nobody’ makes me emotional af and effectively rips my heart out it’s also comforting; it brings loneliness to the surface and in doing so reassures us that we are not alone in experiencing it; the lyrics reflect it so acutely. It’s a masterpiece. I always listen to this version when I’m real down, the popish version is a bop but in a way erodes its meaning. I think this; pure vocals and emotion is much more powerful.
@toychristopher
