Uhm, first of all...this car is not a piece of shit, it's an amazing and reliable car.

If your car is anything like my Carisma. The reason you haven't done that many videos about it these couple of years is that the car is so good :D

i am thinking of buying this car as my first, why do you think its shit? And what should i probably consider when buying it?
@TheMehMan6 жыл бұрын
Well this one was. It had tons of rust and was leaking oil from somewhere straight down to the fan belts. My AC belt would usually last six months before being completely ruined, the leak was coming from somewhere inaccessible and hard to see, it might as well been an easy fix, but it wasn't the only problem my car had. In the end the brake pipes were so incredibly rusty and with a market value of almost nothing, it just wasn't worth the money to have them replaced, nobody wanted to touch that can of worms. In retrospective, I'd tried with some china cheapo brake bending and flaring tools to get it running. Other than that, it's a pretty reliable car, it shares it's base with the Volvo S40, so some parts are easy to come by, others not so much. If you're looking for the most bang for your buck, avoid the gdi models, because looming high pressure fuel pump failures and carbon build are not worth the extra few ponies you get out of them and slightly better gas mileage. Get a 1.6 or 1.8 non gdi and you should be golden. From a practical viewpoint, they're pretty good, at least the hatchback, you get a decent amount of room from a sedan style car with fold down seats and access is easy enough with the rear glass lifting up. As a first car, this is an excellent second hand buy, they're old enough to be cheap as chips, they're plentiful, at least around here, they're mostly all predinged and slightly rusted, so it's pointless to worry about paint and body work, mechanically there's not much to go wrong with them, besides the usual(brakes, suspension, CV joints, etc.), it's mainly terminal rust that you should look out for(ie brake lines, holes in floors and wings), besides the usual car check ups you should do. It's cheap, so there's no huge financial loss if you total it, you'll soon learn not to care about all the extra dings you get at car parks and so forth. Great choice for a first car or runabout. Oh and it's as exciting to drive as a beige wallpaper in a hospital.

@TheMehMan8 жыл бұрын
+Rafał Niewiadomski Thanks for the comment! I have no idea what bulbs I used, it was either Phillips or Narva, I was in a hurry when buying them, so I just bought whatever bulbs the petrol station had.

+RollingJunk Currently I have Narva, but light is yellow and I see almost nothing in the night. :( Now I want to buy Osram Night Braker. We will see how it's shining.

What kind of sandpaper did you use from coarse to finest?
@TheMehMan7 жыл бұрын
The ones in the 3M kit, I think it goes from 200 grit up to the trizac pad. Does wonders to the headlights, but they do need some UV clear over them to seal them from the elements in the long run.
