When he says " starts every time and runs every time without an issue".. I remember my two Mitsubishis that I used to have. Zero issues ever.

My FAVORITE CAR!!!! I had one whilst stationed in Japan back in the 1980's. Mine was the 1975 GSR GTO with possy traction! BY far one of the fastest cars I've owned. That car would easily do 185 KM's !! Wish I could have brought back to the US back then.....!

I had a 1975 JDM import GTO SR (most Nz sold were GS) Mine had boot release, intermitted wipers (3× toggle switch rightside of steering wheel)..both not NZ new options. My seats just same as yours too. Oh and Astron 80 facrory fitted sticker to rear window.

I too thought it was a Celica at first. What a lovely car. I love the interior with all those gauges.

I used to do the PDI on these in the UK, they would go out the door and never to be seen again, they were so reliable.

The US did get the successor (Galant Lambda) sold as the boomer insulting Dodge Colt Challenger and the Plymouth Sapporo. Really Mitsubishi only exported the GTO to New Zealand and some south-east Asian countries (the UK did get some too), which is strange considering how successful the Celica became overseas. Maybe it was too much of a hassle to rename it for LHD markets as they would have had to change the name as to not upset Ferrari purists in Europe and Pontiac owners in the US.

My grandad has one he bought in 82. Completely stock with some exterior mods such as fender fliers, a face lift and of all things a calica wing that sits flush with the body line with the car and we also have a loover in it too. Just off that audio from this video it sounds like it's got a different exhaust or sunshine coz it doesn't sound right. Unless it's something I don't know about our exhaust. I'll never judge anyone who owns one of these as long as it's been kept nice and clean like this one. I do agree as well that it is a shame that the colt name got put on the little hach backs. I wish that the GTO's kept going and didn't end up with two other cars that evolved off the gto ( the Galante and the colt). The early colts did look good as well. They shared parts with the GTO's witch is pretty cool. This dude has another amazing example of one. Absolutely love the GTO's and the early colts

I wonder what the costs of maintaining/ buying parts for one of these would cost. Always loved the old GTOs but parts, reliability and running costs are a big factor

We hear what you’re saying mate. But in this day and age all cool vintage cars cost money to maintain, make and model naturally plays a big Part in how much, our view point is if you’re a true enthusiast it’s the best way to spend money and upset the wife. 💪 thanks for watching

Very cool car. I wish Ford or Pontiac made a giant version of this in the 70s with a V8.Side view almost looks like a '66 Dodge Charger(like the grey one Jason Stratham drove in that recent movie?) Cars today are souless..where has all the creative inspiation gone?
