Hi Guys,
This video will show you, how I replaced the camshaft oil seal. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.Please feel free to contact me if you need any help. Steps for Replacing the Camshaft oil seal
1. Remove the timing cover. (Disconnect the negative battery terminal and disconnect crankshaft sensor)
2. Rotate the crankshaft and align the camshaft to TDC position, double check with the marked symbols.
3. Secure the camshaft sprocket/Timing belt with cable ties, make sure timing belt is not removed and stays in its place.
4. Use the special sprocket holder tool and loosen the camshaft bolt. (use a rag or towel and cover the water pump area, make sure nothing gets in there! very important!)
5. Remove the camshaft seal, replace it with new one, clean the area, and install new seal (Oil the lip of the camshaft seal).
6. Install the camshaft sprocket back, and tighten the bolt as per specs. (make sure, timing belt is aligned)
7. Double check everything is aligned and TDC positions match with the marks indicated on the camshaft sprocket and valve cover.
8. Remove the cable ties.
9. Start the engine, do not rev it, inspect everything.

Have the 4g93, pretty much identical, the repair Manual is absolutely useless, thank you, just made my life alittle easier 👍🏼

thank you for such a detailed video. I have an oil leak from the front passengers side corner of my engine I'm almost 100% sure it's the valve cover only after watching the video. If I ever do need to change cam seal I bookmark this video.

great video. i have a expo with a 4g93 and i can not find any help online about it. so i have to do trial and error. but this helps thanks.

Do you have any vidoes on replacing the fuel filler neck on a Lancer? I can't even find instructions for that procedure.

Do you have part number for the seal under the camshaft seal? I believe it's called crankshaft seal?

I can't find any info anywhere on how to take off the crankshaft sprocket so I can replace the crankshaft seal.

If the engine is set to top dead center, the crank sprocket should slide off the crankshaft. Check the crank sprocket for a dot and align it with the full vertical timing mark. This will allow the crank position plate to slide past the guards at the bottom.

so, you didint remove the whole timing belt right? you leaved it hooked up to the autotensioner and everything and manage to place the gear back?

@@afzamoto5325 but seems like timing belt tensioner would would move and take up slack in belt once you remove cam sprocket, THEN when you try to put sprocket back on you couldnt pull it up far enough because tensioner has tightened up timing belt some!! and that tensioner is pretty high pressure so dont think you could pull against it. Unless? tensioner doesnt move or apply tension when car is turned off? i believe it is a hydraulic tensioner,so that may explain it.

I saw there is a dowel pin on the camshaft so the cam gears will be placed exactly just like before disassembly, so the zipties are enough.

I use a 4G63 and I set my timing on the Cam Angle Sensor.

In terms of the oil leak would more oil start coming out as the engine gets hotter ?

You will need a sprocket opener tool. In my video it shows on 2:00.
