Love this truck, and every Mighty Ram 50 Max deserves the Harley Davidson plate on the front just like mine. These trucks were a lot of fun.

this is an awesome video, I just did the same thing on my 89 mighty max, my carb faces the other way but the choke is facing the same direction as yours.

My '87 B2600 has the same engine, Mitsubishi 2.6, and I went with a Weber 38/38. It is a great improvement over the original Mikuni!!! Great looking mini truck by the way....

on the 2.6L G54B, must the carb be removed first, before the fuel pump can be replaced ? ... like agent 69, it 'misses by that much' 1" or less until it hits the back of the mikuni and it's stuck... no wiggling seems to make it come out ... the mikuni is a pita to get out, some 12 hoses + cables in the carb !!!
@barrygolden98235 ай бұрын
@@solartonytony5868 I think you can just bypass/unhook the Mikuni and put an electric at the tank and run straight to the carb. Check around online for the right pressure pump. I don't recall what mine is.

@@jamesrouse72 The phone number to the place that I ordered from is in the description. The carb is a Webber 32/36. Those guys will get you set up with the whole kit and kaboodle. All you will need is the vac plugs and M8 set screw and tap that I showed in the video. Permatex Aviation sealant is also a must. The EGR tube has to be removed and sealed in some way. I chose to cut, mash, and weld mine.

Hey man, great video thank you so much for posting this! How's your mechanical fuel pump holding up? I'm about to do a weber swap and I have the same engine / layout as you. I'm trying to avoid an electric fuel pump if I can, but if its inevitable then I suppose I'll have to go with the install. Which Holley pressure regulator did you use? I'd like to use the same one. Looking forward to your electrical fuel pump install video!

Well, the fuel pump crapped the bed 5 days ago. I am actually chalking that up to age. I believe that it is the original one installed in 1987. 37 years is a pretty good run for a mechanical pump. I have a new one to put on here at the house but there is an issue. I'm a southern boy. I don't do cold too well. It is in the high 20's and dropping today. supposed to be 15 tonight and that aint gonna work for me. I should be doing a video on that pump install. It is mechanical. The Holly part number is HLY-12-804 on the Summit Racing website. Hope that helps brother. If the replacement mechanical craps out, will be going electric.

I have her in the garage and right now am contemplating the job. I have a problem when it comes to auto mechanics. Short, big arms and very large hands. Ring size 16.5. This may be too tight for me without pulling the intake manifold. Not sure I want to go that route so update may be delayed. The electric option is looking better and better.

I am not sure about the factory carb clearance. I am running a Webber 32/36. I had enough clearance.
@leonewulfe51374 ай бұрын
Yes it does, I have a 2.6l, and unfortunately you do need to pull off the carb, which honestly is super easy, the main issue is having another carburetor gasket to replace it when you remove the carb. After that it will seem like the intake manifold itself is in the way, you can wiggle and slight of hand the pump out, but removing the studs the fuel pump sits on is the easier way to go, and it will make an oily mess when you pull it out. The plastic spacer is necessary, don't discard it, it's factory, and 2 fuel pump gaskets will be needed.
@leonewulfe51374 ай бұрын
Also, you don't have to drain the coolant completely, if you left the drivers side up with a jack, you only need to drain about 1 liter out, if that.

can the red permatex aviation sealant be used to seal the oil pan gasket ?
@plow-boyengineering70535 ай бұрын
The gasket sealant definitely cannot. It is a paste. A high quality RTV maybe. I would use a proper gasket even if I had to make one out of cork.
@solartonytony58685 ай бұрын
awesome, thx @@plow-boyengineering7053 ...yes, using gasket ... will it work if applied to both sides of the oil pan gasket ? ... small leaks in those spaces, the bolts are small and don't press enough to completely seal the joint ...trying to avoid re-threading 2-3 bolts to a next higher size ...
@plow-boyengineering70535 ай бұрын
I don't see why not. I am partial to the high temp black RTV though.

thx@@plow-boyengineering7053 ... is #242 the loctite blue thread sealant part number ? ... one or two threads for the oil pan bolts may need re-threading, any other options ?
@plow-boyengineering70535 ай бұрын
If I had any reservations about the oil pan threads, I would drill and re-tap all of them so I would be dealing with all the same bolt head size. This is definitely a place where a good seal is vital. Blue lock-tite is almost always a good thing.
