Overprice si fortuner today compared with others of same class. Feeling na because of the brand, they can dictate higher price plus medyo arogante ang some sales people sa toyota dahil hindi daw sila nag eentertain ng cash buyers & they prefer yung naka credit via financing. very little diferences ..as for diesel engine mitsubishi are way better and less problem vs toyota diesels.. toyotas are best for gas but not on diesel especially on second hand buys..

The Fortuner is just a Hilux pickup with a different body. Terrible suspension, old tech diesels that have particulate filter issues, old tech transmissions. They only sell the Fortuner in the Middle East, Africa and SE Asia because it’s too truck like and rides terribly. Filipinos love Toyota because they have lots of parts and have a reputation of reliability, but they’re no more reliable than other Japanese cars these days. Toyota trades on their history of rugged reliability from the 70s and 80s, like Mercedes does, unfortunately, that means you sacrifice comfort and refinement. Toyota hasn’t innovated in years, they just stick to old school tractor like vehicles. Most buyers that know cars expect more than that these days. They want reliability as well as comfort, features and refinement. Toyota is falling behind the pack, in the same was as Mercedes has fallen behind in luxury and reliability.

Isn't the Montero Sport based off a truck body too? In this case, the Triton aka L200 aka Strada. Its not like both companies have monoque based SUVs too, such as the RAV4 and the Outlander aka ASX aka RVR. Maybe they think that the Philippines is still a very rugged country, and deserves the most rugged vehicles. Which may not be a bad thing for those who have to use these vehicles in the country side.

@@ChrisRobato that's true, unfortunately the base design of the Fortuner came out in 2007 and had the same rear suspension as the Hilux since they used the existing Hilux as a base, and not much has changed aside from minor tweaks and changing the rear suspension out. The design of the Montero Sport was based on the fact that it was actually designed from the start to be both a pick up and an SUV so they engineered it like that, while Toyota did it as an afterthought, that's why the side folding third row seats and the worst on road suspension of the lot in the Toyota.

Admittedly in the US, the 4Runner that has the antiquated body on ladder structure is edging out the unitary body Highlander in terms of resale value although both lists among the highest resale value of cars in the US.

Hahahahah karamihan ng bumibili ng SUV hindi naman namamasada or nagpaparenta kagaya mo. Wlang interesado sa 1million km mo kasi private cars lang yan. Maswerte na umaabot ng 500k kms jan at marame na montero nakikita ko naka 400 pataas. On average use nga lang ng owners jan for around 10-20yrs ownership is baka 100-200k lang eh. So wala paki jan sa 1M km para lang yan sa mga nag tataxi. Hahahaha

Dito sa gulf area ng middle east particular Qatar hindi pinapansin ang mitsubishi montero (Pajero Sport) at ang pinaka high end ng mitsubishi ang Pajero. Fortuner at Hilux ang binibili nila dahil matibay talaga at Landcruiser is the no. 1 choice. Ayaw nila sa timing belt engines ng mitsubishi. Fortuner owner here. Kahit ano pa ilabas na full option ng competitor still toyota mas matibay transmission and engine.

@@daneurope9167 nope. Toyota diesel engines especially the new GD 4cylinders, old straight 6 in Landcruiser series are reliable. Even the V8 diesel and the new V6 twin turbo for the new Landcruiser 300. Mitsubishi doesn’t have V8 Gasoline and Diesel engine in their line up. Also Nissan owned Mitsubishi so their R&D is not the same as before.
