Hi all. I had a 97 Montero (Pajero) 3.5 V6 for several years and it was one of the best SUV's I've ever had. Love watching a Mitsubishi in action. After it retired from the offroad scene, it was stolen, still sad about it.

I grew up in a ranch and have been wanting to do off-roading properly, i.e. with the right vehicle and equipment. I grew up in a ranch, was using two World War II Jeeps and later on a Vietnam era M151. It was so disappointing using a vehicle without differential lockers in real world rainy season mud conditions in Masbate Province of the Philippines. I bought a second hand Jeep CJ-5 in 1987 converted it for "proper" off-road equipment installed the following: mechanical winch, front and rear differential locks (cable operated from the Toyota FJ40), extended the frame and body by 20" to CJ-6 specification, vacuum clutch booster, dual circuit brakes with tandem vacuum booster, 120 amp alternator, dual air-conditioning, single serpentine belt accessory engine drive, swing out spare tire carrier with a 1994 Toyota Corolla wheel bearing hub as a pivot, an original American made Meyer Cab roof with three doors and a lot more. I have been working on this vehicle on and off for the past 27 years. I never had the time to finish it. It runs but is currently in roofed storage. Finally in 2014 I bought a 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero automatic, (with the last variant of the 4M40 without electronic injection pump, mechanical is more reliable and repairable in the field) but in the Philippines the 2004 model was a 4 x 2. I got another 1999 Pajero with the same 4M40 engine and transferred all the 4 x 4 related parts i.e. instrument panel (with the differential lock display), center console with transfer case shifter, front differential, propeller shaft and transfer case. The 2004 transfer case in the Philippine model was empty just a pass thru shaft. The red Pajero you see on the video has ARB front and rear differential air lockers, ARB air compressor, 8000 pound Toyota/Aisin electric winch (from a 100 series Toyota Land Cruiser (hidden from view because I do not like showing any unusual outside appearance), dual alternators 90 amp and 80 amp, dual 3SMF batteries in parallel (to have more current available for the winch), tire chains (I do not like the noise produced by all terrain tires for the 99.9% of the time I run on paved roads), secondary radiator (installed above the rear differential clearance (I also moved the air con sub condenser that used to sit under the radiator to make room for the electric winch)

I have a hobby repair shop, I bought second hand tire chains from used Japan truck stores in Antipolo Street, Blumentritt. I then adjusted to size the chains to fit my 265/70 R16 112S Yokohama Geolander tires.

By the way I have tire chains on all the four tires. Note that I use highway tires since my Pajero runs on pavement 99.9% of the time and I do not like noisy tires in the highway. I also drive very fast in the highway.
