Mitsubishi RVR 2011-2014 Aux Jack Install

Just a quick video showing how to install an aux jack in the rvr. So simple anyone can do in 10min or so. Comment if you have any questions 🙂

Could you use a normal aux cord and how did you get the 3 pins for the cord ??

Hey thanks for the video! My outlander sport already had an aux jack installed but needs to be replaced (cord broke off inside the port). I took the panel off and see the wiring but not sure how to pop out the existing port and where to connect my replacement cable.

onp0inte if the panel that the port is in looks the same it should just pop out if you push from the bottom once you disconnect the connector. If the jack is still good you can likely pick out the remains of the old cord.

onp0inte also you can likely go to a junkyard and get the aux panel for cheap

I don't even have that extra connector when I popped that cover ... I have outlander sport 2015... Disappointed that they didn't leave that connector in this model SE

If the radio has aux mode, I'm sure there's an input on the back of it although the wiring harness might not be hooked up to it or the connector comes out in a different spot. IIRC in 2015 Mitsubishi changed to a different transmission and added a few new features to the top of the line models and thus would have modified the harness.

Thanks for the tutorial. I am total noob in electric stuff, could you please tell me the connector you used to crimp the bare wire on the 3.5mm cable?

kuja lok those pins are just off an old motherboard ide connector soldered on the wires and heat shrunk. I've used an old speaker wire because the wires inside and thicker and easier to work with. You can also just cut off the car connector then twist and tape the wires together just make sure to zip tie the cable real sturdy so it doesn't pull out or flex the connection. If you want to do it with the same pins as me but crimp search "crimp male dupont" on ebay and cheapest first and you'll get those pins at the top of the search. Good luck

Thank you very much! Really helpful. I found this on ebay, that should save me the crimping step. I guess I just have to cut the housing and then retape it to insulate. kuja lok good luck with that just keep in mind those Chinese wires break real easy and don't follow the universal color code so you'll have to use a multimeter to find what each one is. If you order that cable also get some extended pins cause those won't be lond enough to plug into the car connector

If you have an aux 3.5mm jack you could get a Bluetooth receiver that plugs in there but this is a standalone solution aka you won't be able to control it from the steering wheel. If you want full integration go with a new head unit

In my case I have soldered on the pins to the cable so that this mod is reversible. It can also be done by cutting the connector off in the car and twisting/soldering the wires together. There are some aux wires on ebay that have pins on the end but I'm not sure of their quality

Yes. Usually black/bare=gnd, white=Lch, red=Rch
