Great share we know how great you are going to have it. One e went DRO on our lathe we never looked back only still have to install the tail stock scale. How funny I thought that was a block of solid aluminum only it is a channel, cameras fool me a lot. Pretty cool mill cutting a part for itself:) End result that bracket and your efforts made it the final result look so good, well once you level it to the "Z" as you shared. Thank you.

I thought it was a big slab of aluminum at first. It seems pretty cool to machine out more or less form fitted parts like that. Have a great new year.

I realized that it appeared that way at first but didn't have another angle to show it wasn't. Thanks for watching!

@@riversvic I just got an XLO and wnat to install DRO on my mill. Did you say you have some G code for the bracket?

Any chance you would sell this bracket? Also have an excello and it would be great to have. Let me know, thanks!

I bought a 6+ inch Shars scale for mine and have tried to think of ways to mount it. There really isn't any machined surfaces on the head to mount it to that are convenient. Also there is the Y axis tilt square drive, the quill depth stop and the normal scale that have the potential to be interfered with or covered up. The scale being more of an aesthetic thing, just saying that side of the head is very busy in a compact space. I kind of like your idea of using the depth-stop set screw lock and the indicator rod lock threads as a mounting option. That said I'm kind of stuck on my rebuild for the time being. My Y axis is garbage and am trying to figure out how to machine and scrape it back into shape. Thanks for the video, always like seeing more details and mods on the EX-CELL-O's

I thought about setting the bracket a little further back or having an opening for more access to the tilt drive but if I rotate the head at all I would need to remove it anyway to make adjustments then replace the bracket. there is enough room now to at least tram the head with the bracket in place. Hope you find a way to continue on with your rebuild. If your interested I could make an extra bracket to mail you to mount the Shars scale. Thanks for watching Jim!

@@riversvic I really appreciate the offer bud, but at this point I wouldn't want you to to spend the energy or resources to make the extra bracket. I always love seeing the videos of the XLO though, Thanks!

Let me know if you change your mind I’ll save the GCode just in case

I just bought an XLO and need to add a Quill scale to my machine. Do you still have the G-code for the bracket? Thanks

I’d have to boot up the computer for the cnc to check for the gcode. I moved and haven’t re assembled it yet. I’m sure I still have some form of a file for some part of the bracket.
