Every time you do one of these I am reminded of the brilliance of this design. If ever a fine old British marque cried out for reincarnation, it is Vincent. Loving this.

It's a brave man who keeps his (presumably un-oiled) cup of tea directly under a Vincent's motor.

Duncan Dorris haha. It adds to the flavor 😜. Just like castor oil. Thanks Duncan.

'Just gave the cap a clean & polish' as you do, surprised to see the state of the oil remains on the filter. Looks like you were well advised to check this over Mike not just for peace of mind, thanks for sharing. atvb t ..

I am really surprised that there was oil in the system, everything so far points to the engine just having been thrown back together to keep all the bits in one piece, but having oil seems to imply that it has been run ? Nice to see the correct tools being used !

Hi Chris, yes, fair point about the adjustable spanners. I do try to use the correct spanners/wrenches whenever possible. Yes, the Rapide had run.. right up to the point that the piston was seized. And then it was laid up since about 1993. Cheers, Mike

Happy new year...! Just watched this one and noticed that the primary chain adjuster is all the way in on your Rap. At best this means you need a new timing chain. At worst there could be more bits missing in the primary case..Either way it all can be fixed by just following the literature and applying a bit of ingenuity and money..:-) I know you will do your normal brilliant job on the resto.Cheers

D Ducdude Happy New Year, Eric. Thanks for spotting that. I hadn’t noticed. Yes, I’m sure I will be taking the primary case off as I’ll need to check in there. Haven’t even checked the clutch yet. Best wishes! Mike.

That is too bad - at this point - you may as well make a FULL Resto/Rebuild out of it. Just what I've seen in this & the last video. It calls for complete tear down.
