Perfect start to a Sunday morning with a coffee, thanks for sharing 👍 🏴

Fitting the pushrods is one of the most beautiful jobs on a Vincent as the follower cups are never where you expect them to be, specially the front exhaust one. The scratches on the steady plate shows that the whole timing side needs new shimming. Another nice Job for a boring rainy afternoon...

Nice Mike! Well sorted! All that wear probably came from just the simple thing of basic maintenance, starting with frequent oil changes. So many people foo foo CLEAN and CORECT oil, and maintenance of the filtration system. Cheers my friend. 🌞😎

Good view into the internals. My late friend from Cheshire used to have a prewar HRD Meteor. The ancestor of the Comet. The V- Twin Was called Plumbers Nightmare already prewar. Have a good week Mike Cheers Uwe

Beautiful methods of working on this bike,I’ve forgotten how satisfying they were👌👌👌

The more you look, the more you see that could do with looking at, but I suppose it's all down to the milage/length of time since it last had maintainence - nothing lasts forever does it and it's interesting seeing how it is 'worn-in' !

Love looking at the intriguing Vincent internals Mike. I take it the loose cam nut was the cause of the steady plate scouring?
@geoffgreenhalgh35532 жыл бұрын
Great work as usual. Did you suss out why the plate was scored? Was it because of the loose nut?
@coreylevenson2 жыл бұрын
Nice work! I might have missed it - did you ever sort out why the cam was rubbing on the back of the locating plate?
@TheMightyGarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Corey, sorry for the delay. Yes I think it was a combination of the loose nut on the outside and a missing shim. Hope you are doing well. Best wishes, Mike

Do the Comet's cam followers have a hard material foot on them like Triumph uses? I think Triumph used a Stellite foot??
@howardworrall2 жыл бұрын
Front exhaust (twin and Comet) pushrod installation always the worst job on engine assembly, specially if the engine's assembled and in the frame - gravity is your enemy. I put the pushrod in with the cam follower lifted and guide it with long nose pliers, a small torch and a rabbit's foot. :o)
@TheMightyGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Howard, that was a tricky job. I know what you mean about the rabbit's foot 🤞🏻😉

For me, a Sunday evening delight. But over far too quickly. Mike, can you just live permanently in the garage and put out content 24//7? Is that too much to ask?
