It can't be improved. Polystyrene is a weak brittle polymer and not an adhesive, except for plastic model cement, which makes a fusion bond between the substrates. Buy a product formulated for the intended use by a reputable manufacturer. Experts spend years working on getting it right. I won't bore you with the PhD level science involved.
