Hello, how do you deal with the fact the faders are not motorized ? If you do automation or go from one project to another, faders settings between the daw and the korg change of course. Btw, thank you for the video, I'm looking at those cheap second hands mulitracks but I'm not sure I would benefit from using one in my daw ...

The Korg has virtual mixing scenes that you can save. So whatever you do while mixing? Just save The scene and it will create Automation either in the DAW or the Korg. It depends on which system you have set as master and slave. If you sync the midi clock in the Korg and press play in daw? Both computer and Korg sync and start playing. Then you can use the Korg as an external mixer. If from play start to second measure of intro the keyboard track plays? And you are bringing that instrument down in the next measure? You can save the intro as a scene on the Korg. Then when song plays back you'll have automated faders in the DAW or vise versa.

So if your intro is 48 seconds long? You'll want to save the scene for mixing automation at 48 seconds out time. In time would be from the start of the song. So if you have an old-school digital recorder laying around? Save your money and utilize that to mix out of the box.

Plus another advantage of these old-school recorders? You can bounce record from DAW to them. If you have old projects that are in lower resolution format? Like older 16 bit 44.1? You can bounce them to the external unit. Then recapture the tracks back into the computer in real-time in a higher resolution. Thus beating dithering of file format. Many mastering engineers bounce record into another resolution in real-time rather than doing a file conversion to a higher or lessor resolution. That's how you beat the warble artifact. If you record a track in mp3 format? And you're playing it in real-time from external source? You'll retain much of the file because it's not being compressed. It's already being captured in mp3 format. Some daw brands can record in ogg vorbis or mp3 format on input. I do this at times when an mp3 format is needed. I don't convert high quality wave files to mp3. You get better results with external player of the wave file and recapture it in mp3 format. I use a memory stick with my external console. Play the file and record it into my daw set to capture in mp3 format.

Is it safe to assume this will work in fl studio ?
@massfusion24 жыл бұрын
I can't see why not. Just setup the korg as the general midi device. Might have to use General midi controller because i think these units were around before the dedicated Mackie midi protocol. So you Might have to teach fl studio what you want the korg to control.

Massfusion Studio that’s great. Im used to doing that. Hows do you use it with tracks over 16 channels ?
@massfusion24 жыл бұрын
@@ScarletRyodan i would recommend setting up sub groups in your daw and make it learn what track to recognize the midi control. In example.. Dedicate tracks 13-16 on the korg or midi controller to control sub group faders in FL studio. I run into songs with over 30 tracks at times and sub groups are the answer. All backup vocals on one sub group and drums on another for example. Makes mixing a breeze.
