We thought our yellowbelly fishing trip to Lake Nillahcootie might have been a bit too early, being the first week of October but we were pleasantly surprised with some great fishing.
The fishing action was great however the yellowbelly were just a little bit slow. We managed two nice yellowbelly, both legal size as well as an assortment of other fish species.
Lake Nillahcootie can really turn on some great yellowbelly fishing. My dad had one day there a couple of years ago where he caught over 30 yellowbelly, while being tied to the one tree!
Over the next few weeks as the weather, and the water really styart to warm up the yellowbelly fishing at Lake Nillahcootie, and all other lakes in Victoria will really start to fire before peaking in November.
Here is the link to where you can find that little jigglefishing lipless crankbait. This is a ripper little lure and I am looking forward to using it again on yellowbelly, and also on redfin.

Nice day out with the old man Robbie, and nice fish. Smooth that beard down ..... I have a friend called Bruce - his wife Sheila walked into the kitchen to find Bruce stalking around with a fly swatter and she asked what he was doing. 'Hunting flies' said Bruce. 'So are you killing many?' she asked. 'Yep, 2 males and 4 females' he replied. 'Interesting' said Sheila 'how can you tell them apart?'. 'Easy' said Bruce, '2 were on my beer can and the other 4 were on the phone'.
