Cat, I love everything that you do! I love mixed media but I have been struggling to find inspiration in a style that resonates with me. I have played with gawdy colour schemes and the weird collage combinations and while they can be fun to do I would not want to display them. Your style is lovely.....sophisticated,uncomplicated, refined and pleasing to the eye. Thank you for the inspiration I have been searching for❤️

hi kitty-cat! you are such a sweet lady, so adorable - especially when you smile, which is a lot. so cool in this hard year we are all having. i just wanted to say that, really. oh, yes. of course you have been told that you are very talented, skilled, professional, etc., etc...blah blah. ok, enough with the compliments for now. bahahaaaaaaa. i live in south australia and i have watched almost all of your videos. indeed, i have also tried several - i especially love to print and collage. using water media and acrylic paint is so fun to me too. i play in my studio every day! i am an early childhood teacher, retired a little too young, due to illness - a perfect excuse to throw myself into my art! love you lots - stay safe there, my friend, xxxxxxxxxx michele

Hello Cat, this is a wonderful technique to make a cover your own. I wonder if using a glaze medium would extend the drying time so that you can play more with each layer?
@CaterinaGiglio3 жыл бұрын
Hi Hope.. yes it would.. however you would run the risk of messing up your print.. if you wanted to add something do something subtractive..

Very beautiful Cat!!! Have a question. Have you ever mono printed on a colored cloth? I have yards and yards of linen fabric in all different colors, but my favorite is this lovely muted moss green. It's very earthy, not to dark. I also have this bright yellow/gold color. It really needs toning down!! Just wondering if this technique would work.

Laurie Crater Laurie, a moss green linen would be beautiful mono printed.. I used white only for editorial purposes. Have fun with it and enjoy toning it down! 😘

Hey carol! I wondered the same a while back, I am making a canvas fabric cottage for my granddaughter, and wanted to paint flowers and ivy trailing around the door and windows. I looked into it and bought on eBay a fabric medium. You can basically mix your favourite acrylic colours and then mix in same amount of this runny medium. It makes the paint thinner and breaks it down into smaller molecules I guess you could say. That way it makes the paint seep into the fabric rather than just leaving it coated on the surface where it would be prone to cracking and flaking. Leave it to dry naturally at least overnight, but even better a whole day. Then you just iron on the reverse side to seal it on permanently. I had one of my grandsons over to craft with me so I decided to try a smaller project with him using the medium and acrylic paint to test it out before using it on the big cottage project. We made a simple cushion with t shirt white fabric, cut two large circles and cut strips into the outer edge of each circle to create a fringe all the way round the edge. We left approximately a dinner plate sized circle uncut in the middle. Bit like how a child draws a big round sun with sun rays coming out all round. He wanted the dinosaur Arlo on his cushion, so I drew a basic outline of Arlo with some chunky grass and a chunky tree behind him, he's only 6 so wanted the areas to be easier for him to fill in with the paint. He coloured in the scene, and I'll admit I cheated and used my heat tool to dry it! 😉 Then ironed the back side. Then before completing I wanted to test how colour fast it is. I put washing powder in the sink and hand washed it vigorously, even gouging my nails into it a bit to test it... Not a SINGLE RUN AT ALL! Not even a hint of bleeding colours! I rinsed and rinsed and added some fabric softener, then wrung it out HARD and threw it in the tumble dryer. Half an hour later we laid out the unpainted white circle, added a huge handful of wadding in the middle, placed the Arlo circle on top and then tied all the fringing together to complete his cushion! He has it on his bed to cuddle every night and my daughter throws it in the washing machine at least weekly if not more when she changes the bedding...it all goes in the machine together! And I have to say, it's a few months later, and Arlo looks as good as ever! I'm thrilled with this medium! I buy pretty cheap large bottles of acrylic paint in primary colours only plus black and white and mix my own colours. The medium was a bit pricey for me, but admittedly I did overestimate how much I'd need and bought a whole litre! 😯 Enough to make cottages for 20 girls if not more! I probably only needed 250mls if that. But I don't mind now I have it cos it's brilliant! I paid £16 (UK) which is approx $24 in America, but the amount you'd need it may only cost half of that, even a quarter! So if you already have a stash of acrylic paint, I say save your money buying a ton of coloured fabric paints, or having to buy sets with colours in you don't intend to use. Mine is just unbranded and came from an art supplies seller, I rarely buy the more expensive products by big companies (unless it's a good discount deal!) when cheaper versions work just as well or I can make the same type of product or tool myself! I hope this is useful to you and you're able to find a similar cheapy where you live! 😊 (I love eBay personally) Try a small piece of scrap cloth first to experiment. I bet your cushions and throw will be beautiful! A whole room transformation for next to nothing! 😘😘😘

I think "yummy" too with some rich textures and patterns. This is may be gross and TMI, but sometimes I think my mouth waters a little like with anticipation of a freshly banana nut bread coming out of the oven or something thereabouts. No desire to stuff a fabric or a painting in my mouth, though. I've come to the conclusion it's a touch of synaesthesia.

@@CaterinaGiglio Certainly! MPC stands for multi purpose cloth. The manufacturer is Rocklin. It isn't well known but Blicks Art and other retailers sell it by the bolt to be used as art canvas. I found some at JoAnn Fabric in the upholsery section, so I was able to buy a few yards. It comes in white and ecru and is sold by JoAnn Fabrics as a light blocking fabric to back draperies. I love how it takes paint and doesn't fray. if you want I could send you a nice piece.
