Mixed Media Craft Box Process | Gothic\Alternative Style

Hey there, this is my first proper video on this channel. I hope you enjoy the process of me making this box. I love creating things likes this, but I have to split my time between my digital art work and my crafty hobby.

Very nice use of different techniques! That gesso looks like a good thing to have, havent tried those before, but now i will give it a go =)

Lovely job! Upcycling boxes is one of my favourite things to do. May I ask… did you seal the insides? They looked shiny in the final shots. Also… I find that unless I seal the gesso (I’m also a bit fan!)! box lids have a habit of scraping it off, but you didn’t seem to have that problem. Any tips? Thanks heaps!

I realise belatedly that I didn't mention that in the video, but yes! I sprayed the box with a clear gloss varnish (I used to use spray lacquer but it pongs! Even months after use). I think the one I used on this one came from Amazon, and I believe it was the Rusto-leum brand. But I found a similar product in the DIY section of The Range, and I now use that. I have several boxes I use for storage and this stuff really protects the paint!

Sorry for my late reply. Those stamps are called Ornate Trims by the brand Stampers Anonymous, their Tim Holtz collection.

Where do you find those lovely stencils? And the moulds for the clay? What type of clay is best for projects such as this? Thank you for sgaring! 💕

The stencils are by the brand Finnabair, you can find them on ebay, amazon, on art/craft online shops, and they have their own KZbin channel. I believe the frame mould is by Stamperia, and the moth mould is by Finnabair again. And I use Das air dry clay for all my moulds, I find this clay easier to manipulate in detailed moulds, and it dries really nicely, also it's one of the cheapest I've found. I see a lot of people using paper clay, if that was of interest to you. I haven't used this though. I hope that was helpful!
