Another great lesson! Today a friend took me to a small art gallery in Wimberly, TX (Texas hill country) inside this gallery was a small room (may 8X10) that was stocked with fine art/professional grade art supplies and on the bottom shelf at the back was a Dina Wakely Mixed Media Art Journal!!! My heart almost stopped, lol! I quickly grabbed it, paid for it and felt like I was walking out with a bag of gold😂😂❤ Scored some beautiful handmade paper there as well. I am also in your Skillshare class for making my own mixed media art journal - having this one to refer to in-person will be awesome. I’m a happy girl 👏🏼

It's always such a joy to watch you Denise and your genuine spirit of discovery -- some people do their 'abstract painting' according to a formula and it comes out dead in the water -- for me the whole point of being able to paint abstractly is that we can each explore a universe of color/texture that has literally never existed before and 'exploring' means you have no real idea where you are going to end up -- it's like a dance with the unknown. Thanks for being such a consistent representative of why abstract painting is, as the current saying goes, the 'bomb' ❤

I'm on Skill Share taking your book making class. No fair...now I'm hooked too 😂. Here is a tip. Use a very thick book, open in the middle to use as a hole punch cradle. Place the signature in the center of the thick book and puch straight down into the crease and the hole will line up on all the pages. Ta-da!

That’s a great trick! I also found a signature punch recently… so of course I am sharing it another fun book tool I got in workshop 4… I love these handmade books so much that I kept going… 😁😁😁

Denise the colours in this one worked so well togetherand the added gold sentcil of the tiny hexagons further enhanced them,a more pared down spread, but sometimes a simpler appraoch can have more visual impact on completion,the gold added a final richness to the double page spread. (matt) P.s my silcon bowl scrapper arrived!! and I love it,who knew something meant for the kitchen could be a really brilliant painting and mark making tool,definitly one of my better investments for my mixed media art creating,so thank you for inspiring me to try this and can totally reccommened getting a bowl scrapper,it can really create some amazing effects in your art for sure.

@2lilowlsstudio5 ай бұрын
They are Kissho paints, not kuretake. They seem a bit more transparent than the kuretake. I like the kuretake ones a bit more I think. Thank you! 🥰

That brown must be perfect for painting chocolate tasted Ice Cream. So fantastic. How are the colours compared to Gansai tambi watercolors? About the same, or? (thinking about the opacity)
@2lilowlsstudio5 ай бұрын
After using the Kissho colors a few times now - I think they are a bit more transparent than the Kuretake... So personally I prefer the Kuretake, because I love that they are more opaque, a bit like a gouache. These are more like a traditional watercolor. 😊
