The camera work on these Gold matches is exceptional. This is the first time the choice of camera lens from the end of the court has shown the play in the right perspective to see what the game really looks like...fast and up close. Other channels make it look like the court is huge and we who play know it isn't. All of the camera work is excellent and the production crew brings it all together. Now pickleball coverage is right up there with more established sports. Keep it up and maybe share your expertise with other channels.

Think JW is playing with a stock Franklin paddle? Or do you think he gets it made custom for him? Or, do you think it’s a different brand with the Franklin logo slapped on it? Tennis players have continued playing with their old rackets with a new sponsor’s logo painted over it or a new model colors painted over an old model. During his first several years as a pro, Tiger Woods was sponsored by Titleist but used a Ping grip on his putter with the white Ping logo blacked out with a Sharpie. Seems like with all of the smaller pickleball paddle companies coming out with outstanding paddles that outperform the big name brands, it wouldn’t be surprising if JW found one that he liked and had Franklin slap their logos on it. Franklin seems like they’re a year or two behind the rest of the paddle manufacturers.

See it's a great concept and everything but it needs to be a longer/bigger court or the kitchen needs to be pushed back further. All everyone does is runs up to the net and are slamming it back and forth, it removes all aspects of getting good hits within/inside of the court and you're just slapping it back and forth takes the fun and skill out of it

What's going on? All four players, the refs and the commentators missed a serve error. The score was 9 - 2 and Daescu did 1st serve at 13:12. They lost that point and Daescu then also served 2nd serve at 13:28. Fudge should have served at 13:28. Am I wrong?

You caught a mistake! And Megan was supposed to serve first when they got the serve at 13:12. Daescu was ok to do that second serve at 13:28. Everyone just missed it. Good eye!

Wonder if JW was actually Waters’ first choice for a partner in this tournament or if it was Daescu, but he was already committed to Fudge. Obviously, from the results of game one she’s not regretting her decision for the tournament at least. I wonder, though, if ALW switched partners, if the score wouldn’t have been the same with Daescu at her side and JW playing with Fudge. Really weird shadows on the court with all the small circles of sunlight poking through.

New to the game but I read that stepping on the kitchen line is a kitchen fault but at 7:28, top left guy has his feet in the kitchen even before the ball hits the kitchen, wouldn't that be a kitchen fault? Another instance is 11:00, and 11:07, 11:29, 12:44, 12:51. Like, just so many. Has there been new rules since?

Pickleball is a fun sport and concept but I wish they made the court slightly bigger/ push the kitchen further back. All that happens is everyone runs up to the kitchen line and are right in eachothers faces. It doesn't make it interesting anymore and you don't need to hit good shots anymore

The scoring is tricky. Patterned after a mix of volleyball, badminton and tennis. Takes a while but eventually you get really good at it.
