@MaineOnMMA It was to ensure McGregor recieved a fair trial without influencing the Jury. Also for all we know McGregor paid the taxi driver to make a false statement, in the same way James Lawrence lied to the Police to try to get McGregor off the hook for a criminal trial (which it did), so I imagine that as McGregors team did not bring the taxi driver to civil trial to testify on McGregor's behalf, the statement to Police was inadmissible evidence by the Judge due to hearsay.
