Great video and awesome to see some of the South African products reaching the North American shores. In South Africa the Echo 4x4 range is direct competition to the Conqueror. That is probably why so many mentions is made of it in the comments. Keep up the great videos!

When you say "traditional hitch", I presume you mean ball and coupler style hitch as opposed to an off-road style coupling system. The coupler and brake system used on this trailer is easily identifiable (for those who are interested) as the ubiquitous AL-KO 50mm (NOT 2") coupler and overrun (aka surge) brakes. They do not lock up when reversing, making reversing up an incline or out of a rut or ditch easier than those braking systems that require you to flip a metal tab on the coupler to prevent the brakes from applying when reversing. Something we in Europe mostly did away with in the 1970s and early 1980s. Auto-reverse overrun brakes are now the norm and the two most prominent manufacturers are AL-KO and KNOTT.

Just to avoid confusion, I am fully aware that the Echo Chobe trailer is made in South Africa. I have been aware of them for more than 20 years. I do recommend the KZbin channel 'Edward Bath' who goes on expeditions in South Africa with his Echo 5 (I think it is 5, possibly 4) trailer. He has a review he has made on his channel which is worth a look, but his other videos about the wildlife in South Africa's and Botswana's parks are spectacular to watch too.

People are now so irresponsible and sensitive that they can't move a dog. I love dogs, they're better than a lot of people, but a dog's feelings in this situation are not vulnerable. The guy left the dog their for their marketing schtick and ambience. Didn't really care about the dog's safety because you wouldn't LET your dog sleep in a high traffic area anymore then you'd LET your kids sleep in a busy street. Well, depends, bush lapa is great if you got a ton of cash and aren't going to do difficult 4x4 camping, but honestly echo is tops because their stuff are super light and compact because they use fibre glass bodies. They are durable, light and capable.

Bushlapa is probably the most popular but Echo’s design is much better, and about the oldest manufacturer of off road caravans in the country.
