This was a treat to watch. Like most, I use digital DAWs for music production (Reaper). I realize it's a lot different using an analogue mixing board and whatever else equipment. There's an art to it, and it was fun to watch someone who knows what they're doing in that realm work the magic.

Love the content, I also mostly have an analog setup with outboard and an old Ramsa console. Love the hands on. I might have missed this elsewhere but what are you using for playback? Are you tracking /converting into Digital Daw and have converters back out or do you use something like an old Alesis with hard drive or VHS to record to and playback into your tascam for mixing?
@PolentaccioАй бұрын
EDIT: I scrolled down. Looks like you are using an Alesis HD24 which would in effect, make you mixing in hybrid ( digital to analog). I have thought about this and really, if you set your daw up and use it like an Alesis, you get the best of all worlds. The trick is not using the DAW for anything else except what you might have done with splicing tape and piecing together the best passages from each take into one solid performance and then mixing that through the console. Analog workflow is coming back folks! Most of us stare at computer screens all day, the last thing I want to do is use a mouse for everything in my home studio.
@Mario_DiSantoАй бұрын
@@Polentaccio You get it man! I/We stare at screens all day. Music should be the antithesis of looking at a computer screen in my opinion. I use both my Tascam MS16 and the Alesis HD24 with my console. I like both equally and the workflow is exactly the same for each format. And honestly the sound really isn't that different despite what 99% of the internet is going to tell you. Most of the final sound of a mix or song comes from your APPROACH. Your WORKFLOW. People forget that. They think if they wanna sound 'vintage' they need tape. No...you need to record with the same workflow/mindset of vintage recording. No copying and pasting, or autotune, or endless tracks, etc. This is very important as the limitations of not using a computer will shape your sound. Personally I prefer this workflow and have zero interest in working in a DAW. It has nothing to do with my 'sound'. I honestly don't think much about the 'sound' or 'tone' of my recording. The way I record is because I enjoy it. Same goes for all my hobbies really...photography, woodworking, etc. The 'antiquated' approaches are way more enjoyable for me. Anyway I am rambling now....Cheers homie

@@Mario_DiSantoNo worries, it's called being passionate about something. To be honest, the only reason I haven't picked up an HD24, is that the few I see are quite overpriced and I probably spent close to 3k on my converters so i want to make sure I use the damn things lol. I can't understand why Alesis hasn't come out with a more modern converter/hard disk recorder though. That would bring more people back to working in analog. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Mario best opening on one of your videos so far! Great work. I know I've mentioned it before but if you're up for it send me the tracks for this song (or any song you prefer) and I'll do a mix on a hybrid setup for you. It might be interesting to show people you can start in an all analog world and preserve it even it you have it sent out and mixed in a modern studio. Keep the videos coming.

Love the weird jazz Cheech n Chong type break ? Yeah . Needs to be in a film . The tracks sound fine . We can all hear things too much and get microscopic about mixes which will lead to results . Good results . That’s my opinion . Love the reverb on the backing vocals . Great work as always

Why are you mixing something that when the faders are at unity with no fx's sounds aweful?
@Mario_DiSanto3 ай бұрын
@@ronfrancois isn't...that...the whole point of mixing? Adjusting levels, EQs, and adding FX to take the raw tracks and polish them into a final product? I don't understand your question.

You could splice the old track out and the new track in to prevent recording over the adjacent tracks.

"This track needs a lot fo work."...Garage 101 is get the performance and tracking right. Starting with faders up is also naff. You ought to try starting with vocals and working down to drums. Particularly as the vocals are pretty weak.
