Good tips. Those SSL eqs are classic. Personally I use squats and lunges to keep my low end tight

Love how you are sharing this stuff Rhys, really well delivered and makes a lot of sense. I've heard a few of your mixes now and they all sound just so good.. one thing I guess you can't teach, and that's having a really good ear. I mean, I would never have thought to add a multiband compressor at 115 for just a couple of DBs. I would never have heard it! All these moves are what has to make the difference between a demo and pro mix. Just awesome dude.. thank you for all that you're doing and best of luck with the channel - deserves a million views

This was a really handy vid, Rhys. Super relevant to what I've been practicing lately myself. Assuming you're just cutting out the low end you cant hear from things like the vocals? Been enjoying your vids a lot lately mate. Keep it up :)

Thanks Tyler! Yeah, it’s just common practice to highpass sounds incase there is some low end rumble from things like traffic, plosives in voices etc all depends on the sounds and elements in the mix as to how far you might need to highpass something!

Love your videos man!, what about toms? do they have any space below 100hz? love from Chile!
@spinlightstudios
@spinlightstudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Definitely, each Tom is different, definitely worth rolling off any low end below the fundamental note! But some floor Tom’s have their fundamental around 60-80hz depending on the tuning, just comes down to preference as to whether you need to roll some of that off!

@@spinlightstudios Great! Same with the wall panels?
@spinlightstudios

The panels are made with thin MDF and filled with sound screen insulation, then wrapped in fabric. A bit of a DIY project.

The lowmid of the bass was actually blocking the fundamentals of the snare and rhythm guitar in the center..

If I have just as little bass in the mix as yours, I’d not have issues getting it tight. It gets hard when you want a deep and loud bass but still tight. So this video doesn’t help me at all to be honest. Mix sounds great anyway!

Let the bass scream, man. It’s so sad to have it just in the background 😢
@erikmcconnon2155
@erikmcconnon2155 11 ай бұрын
I'd agree if this was more of a screaming bass part but since it's mostly just supporting the chords it should be tucked in the background

What "Low End"???? Not quite a great example for BASS or low end..... Pop = No Bass Music = Yes
@spinlightstudios
@spinlightstudios Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, I get your point of view, but it’s still important to have a tight low end in pop and rock music.
