How Farms Work is a KZbin channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Be sure to subscribe for new videos every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!

Something to notice later on when the grass and oats emerges, check to see if there is any difference in emergence where you seeded in the tire tracks v/s in soil untouched by the tractor wheels. If you see a difference, then consider mounting a couple of S-tines with points or goose foot sweeps on the front side of the seeder to eradicate the tire tracks before next time you need to use the seeder.

Hope an RV windshield washer squeegee is on your investment list... LOL:) Dirty muddy cab windows are hard to see through... That's the biggest gripe I have running tractors for my BIL-- the cab windows are ALWAYS dirty and cleaning them is a bit PITA... They climb all over the outside of the machines with a bottle of windex and a roll of paper towels. I bought them a telescoping RV squeegee so that at least it can be done from ground level, even if it's not "perfect"... It was SO dusty one day when I was disking/rolling basket the field for planting, that I had to get out and climb around the cab anyway with a clean grease rag I keep on my belt, just to knock the dust off the windows so I could see in the late afternoon sun... dust was literally SHEETING down the windows! Later! OL J R : )

Great video. Have you thought about if the reason for the difference in height of the waterways v/s the rest of the field might be tied to the difference in organic matter content in the soil? I suppose you know pretty well what your soil organic matter content is in your fields from your soil samples. next time, consider taking a soil sample in the middle of an old waterway.

Did you cut the end off that bolt on that railing? We had a steer rip open its side (deep) which required me & the vet to sew up the inside "meat" with fine stitches and the outer skin/hid layer with thick stitches which were like lacing up a football.

Why do waterways do what's the purpose of and why do you put grassy then with oats Does it help slow the water down in not to destroy the crops or what is it how is it beneficial I hope you guys have a good Spring and help we see all your crops and God-bless
