A well-balanced low end in rock and metal productions is not as trivial as it sounds in the first place. Elements like kick, bass and down-tuned guitars often share the same frequency areas, so it is well worth putting some work into carving space for all these instruments.
In this workshop, platinum awarded audio engineer Dennis Ward shares his knowledge on how to mix a solid and balanced low end in modern metal, assisted by HOFA-Tutor and metal band guitarist & singer Steffen Walter.

at 12:36: "the guitar cannot suffer because of a really cool bass sound". If I were your client I would have immediately stopped the session here and leave the room. Or ban you from further mixing my songs. This is why modern metal sucks! Listen du Death Scream Bloody gore, listen to Carnivore, listen to Overkill, listen to Motörhead, listen to moderen Death (including fretless), listen to Theríon (also symphonic). Cool bass sounds are everywhere, And no instrument suffers. Or are ther not guitars on Overkill? The most brutal Kreator-Album is the one where you hear the bass loud: pleasure to kill. The video could be shorter: "Mixing Low End in Modern Metal": Make the bass unhearable. Maybe ask Lars Ulrich to come over.
