Thank you Jess, apart from your brilliant work! Thanks for the tip on the GAC 100, I've now got it and tried it out, and I'm sold! I was already not fond of the varnish, and used it minimally, only to dissolve the pigments in it. But even (or especially) in my Owatrol mix (from the Netherlands, so no house paint, I mix all the layers with Owatrol, and so I already added a binder with the pigments, but a very thick one so not suitable to dissolve them in), I already notice that the cells stay nicer, less blobby, and my pigments no longer bleed when I want to make lines with them. And it's so thin, so only little needed, really nice! I am very happy with it!

Jess! This was soooo helpful girl!! I haven’t bloomed in ages ( hello cloud obsessed) but I’ve been antsy to jump back in. I wasn’t sure i was gonna go back and use my old PM ( using infinity with poly and sometimes the 8300) Thanks so much for all this! Right now i mixed up 5340 beer but I’m not elated with it… but once the small can is done … I’m definitely gonna go this way. Cheers!

Maybe in this one. But not that I noticed in other pieces I tried. It’s the opposite! Everything is very stretchy. I had a few paints floc on me which I didn’t have before. I’ll see if that was just a unhappy incident

This makes me want to buy abalone! I also bought 3 different types of Behr base because i have seen so many people have good results with it. I typically use glidden premium base 3. What i learned from my experiments with the Behr, was to stick to my Glidden mixture! I have 3 mixed up batches of pouring medium that dont cell, lace or do anything fun. Maybe i will try adding some varnish and see if that helps any of it. If not, i will hold onto it until i need to paint a room! Lol.

Turned out STUNNING!! I mixed similarly and had issues with cracking afterwards. I think my Varathane dried quicker and caused it. I went back to Jo and didn’t have that issue again. Would love to know how this one dried…did the cells move or have any cracking?
@WinterStromArt2 ай бұрын
It dried perfectly, just like you can see in the end of the video. Cracking happens when you leave too much paint on which can easily happen when your paint is too thick.
@JamieMillen2 ай бұрын
Do you just use paint straight from the can for pillow? What would you use to thicken up the can of paint? This painting turned out gorgeous!
@WinterStromArt2 ай бұрын
Yes I do. I got lucky with my paint here. It can be totally different for you. You can leave the lid open as long as you need but stir occasionally, so it doesn’t make a skin on top.

We tried behr 8300 and valspar deep base. The smell gave my husband and his aide migraines. I wonder if the dynasty will do same
@WinterStromArt2 ай бұрын
Yes! It's less stinky in CA but it definitely has an odor to it not as much as the 8300. I like to keep it in my squeeze bottles so I never have a big container opened sitting around. When I mix my window is wide open AND I just got an airpurifyer that does a lovely job...

Thank you!! What do you plan to use if your mixed pm paints thicken up too much? GAC100? I have airbrush medium always on hand. It has a water consistency, but doesn’t screw up the binders in the paint. Thanks so much for your teaching and inspiration! -Hansel Hansel

Why don't you use Liquitex or Golden pouring medium instead of wall paint?
@WinterStromArt2 ай бұрын
I want the right consistency and density. The whole thing only works if the base paint is able to hold my composition on top and not let it sink through. Plus all components need to like each other. Liqutex didn't work for me and wall paint is way cheaper than gac800 or their PM. Hope that made sense

Jessica. I have not found valspar deep base c in canada. Any suggestions? We also don’t have ppl multipro here. Is Glidden essentials white the same as glidden essentials white base. I was told the base is the only glidden white at Home Depot. It was. Very frustrating day. Thanks for any insight you may have.
@jordirosa1to52 ай бұрын
Hi! thanks for the information! have you thought of using the 'bad' dinasty for thinning out paints that are too thick? kind of the same way you're using the valspar now. So, 'good' dinasty for thickening out, 'bad' dinasty for thinning out. Would that work?
@WinterStromArt2 ай бұрын
Darn! Why did I not think of that?! Haha! OMG! Heck yeah it will! I used it just by itself before with my golden paints. There was a little bit of a wonk but I bet with my really thick Dynasty added, it might work. I’ll definitely give that a try! Thank you !!!! 😘

gac100 is to disperse pigments. It sounds like you need to know how the whole process works. I recommend the original recipe video to give you an overview of this technique. It's one of the more advanced ones. Now I'm just refining my recipe
