Hi friend, I also use reaper and I have a problem, not with the sound if not with the crash 2 (the one on the left), how do I do for the short strokes of this crash? so that it does not stay ringing (when the battery stops it by hand). . this with the crash of the right this does not happen or with other libraries does not happen, I have reviewed the drum map and in the gap crash 2 muted does not mute, you know what the solution to this? Thanks in advance :)
@thevisi0naryy8 жыл бұрын
Hey quick question, you may have mentioned it in the video and I missed it. How come you load metal machine in the modern set template?
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
hey. for me, loading the metal preset on the standard kit and then swapping out the drums for the metal machine ones is the first step to getting a tighter sounding kit. the other plugins are there to beef things up a bit but the main sound difference between the beginning and end of the video is down to changing the kit round in EZDrummer. thanks for watching
@thevisi0naryy8 жыл бұрын
Akkadian Studios why reload them instead of using metal machine originally?
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
The mix within EZDrummer is different. I feel the mix in the metal preset for the standard kit is more punchy when using the metal machine kit parts than it is with the metal machine presets. Give it a try, You will see what i mean
@thevisi0naryy8 жыл бұрын
Akkadian Studios Got it, thanks for explaining I get it now.
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
Johan Vidner all the outputs tend to be pre mixed to make it easier to get a useable sound fast at the expense of malleability. this is why the different presets sound different even with the same drums
@pnsalatah7 жыл бұрын
useful and easy to do. but, why do you turn down the ride's db? I mean, I always turn up the ride's db about 1/1,5 db, just to hear better the ride sound "kan kan", the bell sound that I loved it!
@akkadianstudios7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! glad it was helpful. I turned it down as I prefer the rides from the standard kit, but they are oddly, all the cymbals seem to be much louder than they are in EZX Metal Machine.
@pnsalatah7 жыл бұрын
Infact I use metal machine and I ve never hear the lower volume. Well tnx for all, and good work Peace

dude this is awesome the compression and reverb are perfect. ill post a response video using your drums. 2 quick questions..is there a reason you turn 3 toms off? i did it too just to be on the safe side. also, can i then use a limiter on the master bus, or will that be too much compression with headcrusher? thanks so much!
@akkadianstudios7 жыл бұрын
Hey man thanks for watching. No real reason for the toms. I just set it up like my real kit. And yeah you can stick a limiter on the master bus. I did another video on how I approach my master bus if you want to check that out

I will have a video coming soon on how I mix guitars
@thevisi0naryy8 жыл бұрын
Great video. Serious question, do they leave these sort of half mixed on purpose in case someone wants to tweak the sound? Or are they just pre mixed poorly? Only reason I ask is because they are marketed as "song ready", so I always look towards the sdx libraries.
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. In all honesty, I think the stock presets for the EZXs are pretty good. especially at the price point. for the most part they are song ready and you could get a not too shabby mix just using the EZ stuff (EZDrummer and EZMix). That said i do feel that they lack a bit of punch and character and while there is obviously the functionality for routing out for some more mixing, the Superior Drummer line offers a LOT more options in terms of sculpting the sound. EZDrummer is fantastic for a quick but solid drum tone, whereas if you really want to get in to the finer points of drum mixing, Superior Drummer is a good way to go.

hii quick question i know maybe its very noob question 1. how you get a clean screen record lol 2. what kind technic you use for write a drum track?? using mouse and keyboard, midi controller like Launchpad or Midi Keys, or software like Guitar Pro?? thanks before
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Thanks for watching. I use this for screen recording sketchman-studio.com/rylstim-screen-recorder/ Used another program for this video that didn't work out so well. but that one has worked great for my other stuff. secondly, I generally just program my drums with keyboard and mouse on the piano roll in Reaper. Sometimes I will use my electronic kit as well (as a midi controller)

sounds awesome. a few questions of course. is the minimalistic drums something sought after or just preference? what are you using for the guitars--micd amp or ampsim? what are you using on the master bus? thanx for enlightening us!
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
drum setup is just preference. it mirrorsy own kit. the guitars for this are bias fx. I will do another video on the master bus as there are a few things on there. mainly a bit if compression for glue, some saturation and a master limiter. thanks for watching
@jaliennation91698 жыл бұрын
i see. looking forward to that video. also, are your guitars bused or straight to master?

@LeeJoRo5 жыл бұрын

@Bloodsoaked6 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using this setup for my Death Metal project and love it. Question: would you normally EQ each drum separately for a real song or do you feel the one EQ cut you made is sufficient enough for an over song mix?
@akkadianstudios6 жыл бұрын
Hey. Thanks for watching. For a real drum recording you would probably need to eq each track separately. Ezdrummer is already eqed and compressed anyway
@Bloodsoaked6 жыл бұрын
Akkadian Studios I guess I was asking for each drum EQed separately for sitting in the mix better? Not just the sound of the drums as stand alone. Would you EQ the kick or snare or cymbals separately so they would sit in the mix better with guitar, bass, drums and vocals? Or would this setup be good enough to have all the drums sit where u want them to in the mix of a song? Thank you.

hi! have a question from my ignorance: why you do use the standard metal and change the pieces to metal machine? does metal machine doesn't sound awesome yet? I know there's 2 questions in one but they're related, thanks!
@JohnProph8 жыл бұрын
Im assuming its because he liked the mixer section on the metal one better than the mixer section on Metal Machine. I was guessing that and then sure enough he went right to the mixer section after changing the drums. maybe he already had a template set u on the regular mixer?
@akkadianstudios8 жыл бұрын
yeah pretty much exactly that. all the presets in EZDrummer have a different sound to them and I found that by putting the metal machine drums in to the standard kit with the metal preset it gave me a much more punchy sound.
@JohnProph8 жыл бұрын
yeah I sort of do the same thing. Pick a mixer that you like then figure out the drums you want. I generally like to use the "original mix" on most of them so I get the most options etc even though its a bit more complicated to setup at first
@juan_albatross8 жыл бұрын
aha, now I got it thanks a lot!
@AlexH82807 жыл бұрын
Can I ask why you worked from the standard Ezdrummer 2 kit as opposed to leaving it on the Metal Machine? Did I miss the reason?

why did you change the program : metal machine to ez drummer2?
@metallpt1474 жыл бұрын
phenix returns isn’t metal machine just a preset from ezdrummer?
@DundyTM4 жыл бұрын
It's just ONE program - EZDrummer 2, which use different libraries. "Metal Machine" is a library. There are many, many other libraries out there for EZDrummer 2. You can check them all here, in KZbin. Just search "EZDrummer 2 libraries" ;) By the way, there are even better libraries for metal music than "Metal Machine". For example "Drums of Destruction", "Death Metal", etc. Ofcourse, it depends on what you like, what's your sound. And it's get even better: for one library there are different mixer presets, which change the sound of one library dramaticly. All in all EZDrummer 2 is great. It's worh it. For fast workflow and good sound. And If you want even more proffessional program for drums, then look for the other Toontrack product - "Superior Drummer 3". It's more complicated, but works way better.
