Mixing Tanks are commonly used across many industries such as pharmaceutical, chemical processing, oil and gas, and mineral processing. Modeling flow inside a mixing tank can be vital for improving reactor design, scale-up, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Join us for this KVA session to discover how simulation can be leveraged to gain valuable insight in areas such as flow visualization, residence and blend time, prediction of shear rate, design optimization etc. We will also include a short demonstration showing how to setup a basic single-phase mixing tank CFD simulation.

note: must share topology between the rotating frames and the fluid. I know she says it, but didn't hover over the feature in the "prepare" tab, and I glazed over because there are several other ways to share topology in ansys mechanical which mean different things than it does here.

When you gave 300 rpm for mrf1 and mrf2 fluid zones, does that mean, the whole fluid in that two zones is rotating with 300 rpm? If so, will it not be different from practical case? Shouldn't only the impeller walls rotate and influence the surrounding fluid, just like the rpm you specified for the shaft?

Hi, @24:14 you talked about the MRF zones for the mixing blades and etc. I know from experience that the thickness of the MRF zones has a significant impact on the thrust and flow in the rotating zones. Do you have a rule of thumb for choosing the thickness of the rotating zones? 2-3 times the thickness of the mixing blades? thank you.

Thank you for this video. please how can I create screw on the on the pipe instead of impeller. Also can you show me how this CAD was design in Spaceclain? Thanks

1. insert the screw geometry, generate a cylinder that encapsulates the screw geometry, subtract the screw from the fluid volume, and combine-subtract the screw from your new MRF (skinny cylinder). 2. For spaceclaim design, look up some separate spaceclaim design videos, it's pretty intuitive. Create Plane, move, sketch on plane, pull, move, ctrl+move to copy or circular pattern
