so basically nail the recording so you don't have to do too much post processing 👍

Daaaamn NOBODY has thump tutorials. Plan by on how to do it, absolutely none on getting a good tone for it or mixing it. Bravo to this one for sure

Yes there is and I learned it by watching Uncle Ben Eller. Have a look
@CrzyWzrd4L Жыл бұрын
Tosin himself made a tutorial around 10 years ago. Ben Eller, Tim Henson, and Josh Meader (I think, don’t quote me on that one) have all done tutorials as well. It’s not different from thumping on a bass, you just have to focus more on control due to smaller string spacing.

@@CrzyWzrd4L yeah I know I’ve watched them all haha I’ve been considering buying the THUMP! DVD as well. “Plan by” was supposed to say “plenty on how to do it, absolutely none on getting a good tone” or mixing it. Or the pre DI processing. So sorry my auto correct screwed it up haha but I’m talking about getting the tone not the technique. I can thump well, been practicing it since I learned it was a victor/Reggie Wooten technique. But getting the “shpanky” tone as I call it, is a different story. There’s 1 decent video I found but it’s more about that dudes specific gear he over simplifies it and makes it hard to generalize for other use. So yeah tone, not technique. By the way if you mean uncle ben & rosin selective picking video they did together, yeah that’s 🔥

Incredible. Also... i really think this album is one of the best mixed metal / fusion albums in a long time. It's really fucking well done. Every single thing I hoped would occur did, and the sound just occupies everywhere it is really nicely. There seems a lot of thought and careful nuance went into the album. It's a new reference album for me.

It’s cool to see that Tosin still uses the Morgan SW 50 in the same way he has for a few years now. I’m surprised Morgan amps doesn’t take advantage of that fact
@RobertRosenbrook Жыл бұрын
I’m curious if Morgan is aware a player like him uses their amps. If anyone can chime in and correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that company is more into the genre of country music. I’m pretty sure I saw an interview of Tosin explaining that’s how those amps came onto his radar.

@@RobertRosenbrook The Morgan amps are HORRIBLY expensive. That being said, if tomorrow his sig amp gets announced, I'm selling a kidney.

Worth noting with the BE-OD if anyone has one and is going to try for the tone with those settings; there's an internal trim pot in it that tosin actually turns down to reduce gain a bit more

Thumping is super weird, it's creates illusion on camera. I tried thumping+selective picking and acoustic and it looked like the sound and the video don't match. The bad thing about it: it hurts my nail side.
