When choosing a pair of headphones for mixing and maybe a bit of monitoring. What is best? Open-air design or closed ear? i am currently picking between a Sennheiser HD 380 Pro and an Audio Technica ATH M50 ( both closed ear). Could you recommend me a couple of open-air designs within that price range? Thanks in Advanced.

You can...but it would take a lot of practice learning how they sound. I probably could mix on headphones only but then again, I have a lot of experience. So, it really depends on who is actually doing it. If it's a noob...the results won't be so good at first but with practice, they can get better.

I just bought the ath m40x headphones which produce a very neutral balanced sound which are suitable for mixing and mastering and monitoring your audio and generally just listening to music

I have the M40fs, which the M40x replaced. I have heard they sound different, but both are marketed as flat response. The M40fs cause you to add high frequencies because they lack the boost.

the answer is noooo big no simply cauz with headphones we listen to the music inside the ears we gonna need it for EQ and recording but with monitors we can feel it in the shest but we need to be careful of the room sounding while using monitors and it needs to be calibrated and positioned in the right angle and let me tell you that's a huge step for a great mixing
