Continuing a tradition that started the previous year, the winner of the New Music Seminar's DJ Battle for World Supremacy faces the previous year's winner, and this time it's two San Francisco DJs: 1992 Champion Mixmaster Mike and 1993 winner DJ 8-Ball. Who will win the Battle for the Bay?

Dude this was sick as well but I'm not sure I still think Mike has something about his style that just always makes him insane!! Like 8-Ball was incredible but Mike made me smile uncontrollably and nod my head. Personal favorite I guess :)

I get what you mean. I know them both in real life, and Mike is a much more outgoing, magnetic personality. It comes through in their performances. That said, I think 8-Ball's routine in round 1 was more captivating, but Mike's second set was the best of the four.

Yeah totally that makes sense. That's sweet that you know them in real life too! Yeah I've seen Mike in some videos and he definitely seems like that. I heard that when there were some championships they asked MMM and Q-Bert not to attend because it was like too easy of a win for them and other DJs didn't want to show up which I thought was pretty funny

What's 8-Ball up to nowadays? I know he made a little comeback a few years back, in the online DMC battle, when he teamed up with a young guy, but I haven't heard anything of him since.

Both legends. Mmm seemed to have a slight edge with his ability to warp the tempo and throw up 8balls tricks and add to them. Thars the advantage of going 2nd if your quick on your feet and can adapt thats fast

He's playing "Don't Stop the Rock" by Freestyle, and manipulating the pitch on a record from, I believe, DJ Rectangle that's just a long "nyaaaaa" noise to play the tune over the song.

At the time, that was like his signature set, and I remember being surprised he didn't bust it out during the actual battle. Apparently he was that confident in winning that he saved it for the post-victory battle with Mike. And yeah, that should have come second... unless he didn't know it was two rounds with Mike, kind of how Supreme the previous year thought it was three.

Never rated Mix master, hectic scratching and no innovation. 8 ball hands down. uNless u like scribble scrathing (with no rhytm)

I have to disagree with this. His scratching is very innovative-- the tweak scratch is craziness, and was light years beyond anything at the time this was filmed, and a scratch I've heard few DJs credibly replicate to this day. He is not a beat juggler or flare scratcher, rather he is much more of a freestyle scratcher, and among the best. 8-Ball is entertaining, but he's something of a one-trick pony, no?
