A solo I created over a portion of a backing track from "MyDarnJamTracks". This is in B Mixolydian. Fender Eric Johnson Strat through a Kemper Profiler with a MBritt Dumble profile.

Everything flat except middle? Anything else? You're going through the speaker simulator. Awesome. So, I have messed with my controls a lot over the last year. It's so funny, When I got it, I remember that everything was set like that, so I set everything exactly like you have it, pending any new information, and didn't touch it for an hour. It sounded great. Too funny, sometimes when we tweak things we lose the original feel.

Just learning theory and scales and all. As a metalhead, my first impression of the mixolydian wasn't all that great. Most "hard" solos I've seen sounded like dad rock to me. But I really like it in this emotional context here. Thanks, looks like imma find some use for it after all!

First time I saw this video, my reaction was something like: "WTF! Who is this guy?" It's been almost a year now and I keep coming back to it trying to understand what is going on at warp speed. Although I do recognize an Eric Johnson influence, you undoubtedly add a personal touch to it. Totally amazing playing... fast and fluid and very tasteful and melodic. You make it look so easy. I certainly would like to see more of the same. Please keep the videos coming. In meantime, I'll try to refrain from throwing my guitar through a window...

Harry Hawkins thanks man! I would say from trying to learn some of Eric johnson's songs/riffs I just picked up on it over time. I'm a total copy cat haha. Joe bonamassa does the Eric Johnson 5 note pattern licks too. Another player who I picked that up from is Lincoln Brewster. He plays those licks from time to time. Check out his solo on "reaching for you" he plays a few of those 5 note pattern riffs.

It sounds great! I've heard guys talking about inside/outside picking and things like that. I guess it's just all practice. I seen Eric Johnson live a few years back and he was unreal! Such a great player, like yourself! Do you stick to a straight alternative picking method or does it vary?

Harry Hawkins Eric Johnson is incredible! I wish I could see him live sometime. I stick to alternate picking and hammer ons/ pull offs for the most part. Vary rarely will I throw in economy or hybrid picking. To be honest I'm not really practiced up on anything other than alternate picking.
