If you wanted to poplock, this was THE song to do it to, in 1984
@Klos1neMN3 жыл бұрын
Except "poplock" isn't a thing. Popping and locking are completely different dances. I know back in the day people confused the two and combined them into the same word but they have distinct differences.
@badelementdistortionbox40783 жыл бұрын
@@Klos1neMN -i think it's geographical, we got our style from New Jersey where I'm from in Pennsylvania: we had 'pop' and 'tick'. Also Pop Lock to us was something: it's like the integrative dancing with the forearms that Shabba Do did, haha (I think)
@Klos1neMN3 жыл бұрын
@@badelementdistortionbox4078 But geography doesn't change the fact that popping and locking are two different dance styles. And that's exactly what happened here - Kraftwerk was an early pioneer of electronic/digital/synthesized music. They happened to put some SLAMMIN' beats in their music, and that's precisely what opened up things for the Hip-Hop culture/genre. When you think about it, it's kind of funny... 4 white German guys who didn't dance AT ALL (shoot-they barely moved!) helped to inspire Hip Hop's early beginnings. True story.

This is just not true. HipHop originates way back in the 70s. To say that 4 Germans opened up the HipHop culture/genre that battles with poverty and unjustice in the states makes no sense to me. Kraftwerk did of course pioneer a certain sound but I think putting „slammin“ beats under any kind of music has not only been done by them.

+sal marin Lately (like in the past 10 yrs or so) they are getting the recognition they deserve. They got their grammy at the same day as the Beatles - that alone says a lot - and with their one-week-museums tours they have a rennaisance and get a lot new fans... Check out the bbc docu about "Kraftwerk and the electronic revolution" (here on YT). Then there's a video where someone has cut together all the interviews with US house and hip hop artists that mention KW - and the common message is pretty much "Wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them!". People do recognize by now that Kraftwerk is one of the bands that truly made music history - and they are possibly the most influential group of the last century - because they not just pioneered their electronic music style (and pretty much influenced everyone ever who today makes electronic dance music, be it Techno or House or whatever) but also spearheaded a bunch of studio technology that today is pretty much standard everywhere. They were in the right place at the right time to make some really huge ripples with the stone they threw into the water of pop culture, so to say. ;)
