This is an analysis, not criticism. This may contain spoilers, read at your own risk! This is your warning! We don't have the much intel on Miya's old friends. But we know one of their names. Takashi. He has a current unknow last name. Some fanfiction creators have given him common Japanese last name though for fanfiction purposes. This bot that i am talking about is the second one shown. There is also a girl that Takashi was with in one scene, a friend of Takashi's asked him if he knew Miya. He lies and says no then asks her if she wants to have lunch with him. Some of the other people shown may have been some of his old friends and they dropped him before Takashi did. Not exactly sure but that's what I'm assuming. They do seem to be having fun after all. Also just a note that people do end up shipping him with Takashi as an friends to enemies to lovers trope or something like that, I'm open to it and like the fanfics (Wattpad doesn't have any so you need to go on Ao3) There aren't that many, there's more Miya centric fics and Miya centric angst fics than Miya x Takashi, but it makes sense as Takashi's is a side character and helped create Miya's abandonment issues. I found that Takashi really rude at the start, but as I read fanfics and dove deeper into Miya's trauma and past more and more, looking at headcanons too. Some say that Takashi was jealous because Miya was getting so much better than him, which is the most likely answer. Some think it's because he fell for Miya and dropped him to get rid of his feelings for him (maybe he had internalized homophobia about it) and personally, I don't blame him, though the show itself isn't a BL it does seem like it. Some also say that when he dropped Miya, he fell even harder. Going back to the topic of Takashi just dropping him because of feelings does make a ton of sense as well. Sk8 is presented to us as kind of a BL anime and its heavily implied without ever being said to us. Takashi and Miya re both 12-13 years old, and it can be really hard for people that age to understand how to react, because its the time when crushes really start developing. Their relationship is presented in an odd way, which may be why people just end up ignoring Miya and his trauma a bit too much and focus on Renga and Matchablossom. People also do have a tendency to forget Shadow as well, but he isn't really related to the topic, so we'll skip him because there aren't' many character interactions with him and Miya, for his character growth. Who knows, there are rumors that another season may come out in 2022 but its an odd concept and nobody's really confirmed nor denied it. (Some have also said it may not get another season) I personally think we will and are rooting for another season, I still really want a scene where Reki apologizes to Miya because even though he went trough a depressive episode, I feel that Miya and Reki have an awesome sibling bod that needs to be more recognized. I also think Takashi should also make a bit of a comeback as well. I think it could help with learning to forgive and help with character growth more. I think he needs to start to heal, but of course, its hard to do that with trauma that we as the watches and he himself, needs to understand more. Just my thought on this entire relationship between them. I could go on and on, but I could say more if I wanted to. I could make an essay on this. Please comment on this! I love others opinion on their relationship, and it needs to be seen a bit more. I love thoughts and opinions, including headcanons! -Akita

Ok, your analysis is really good. I just want to add something. Maybe another theory. All of we know that Miya is Pansexual. How did we know? Cause, literally, his phonecase has the pan flag If we consider that this is a BL anime, was expected, but... How did he know that he is Pansexual? Well, we can deduce that Takashi is Bisexual, with preference for men, for women or, just, without preference, but Bi. Is logic, knowing that Miya and Takashi are childhood friends, that Miya knew his sexuality, and, if they really are in love, this is the moment when he notice his Pan. I think that everyone can deduce thia factors, but you are totally correct when you say the tendence of the people to forget some characters. If the new project of SK8 is true, we need urgently more scenes of Miya's backstory, and also more participation from he and from more characters like Shadow, Koyomi an Oka.
