Thank you again for posting another great vintage gymnastics competition! Loved seeing Marcia Frederick and Kathy Johnson’s fine performances (on UB & FX respectively) rewarded with World Championship medals. This was a very big deal for the United States team.

That was not a good time for Nadia. Not only had grown a lot, but she was very unhappy. Against her wishes, the evil Romanian dictator moved her to another city, removed her from her coach, and took away what little freedom she had by confining her (in effect prison).

The american gymnast was not of Mukchina's class. Maybe this fake classment was the reason Mukchina felt so unhappy, that caused the accident after. I don't know. Nadia was good but not in form.

Lol probably bc whoever recorded this had a b&w 📺 lol. I was born in 77; we had a b&w tv throughout the 80s. Finally got the color 📺 in late80s(?)

Catherine H. - Nadia’s balance beam routine was very solid, but there was at least one minor balance check and a double-stag leap that was too low. Her score of 9.8 was about right.
