Slight correction - my dad (the player I'm practicing with) uses the Viscaria Super ALC with Dignics 09c on the forehand and Armstrong Attack 8 1.8mm 53 degree (medium pip) on the backhand. NOT long pips which is what I accidentally said in the video. Dear Louis, as your devoted fan and follower, I must say that in my humble opinion, you make the most instructive, thoughtful, useful table, tennis tutorials that offer the highest value on KZbin. Thank you for posting this great video and for your personal help and attention to help me with my aging issues. I actually have a body type that is very similar to your father, and no matter how good our skills are, our physical limitations definitely take a toll. Your father has great control and skills, my respect to him. You look great your strokes look world-class and your backhand is so fluent, natural and effortless. It is truly a thing of beauty to watch. I will send you a follow-up comment about all the good things your advice has done for my game and some new surprising developments. I am still using the same blade you use. I look forward to watching each and every single video you make. I wish you all the best. Warm regards from James.

Thank you so much, your comment genuinely just made my day!! I'm so glad that I've been able to help. And yeah my Dad has really nice shots and the pips on the backhand have worked great for him even though he was a two sided looper at his peak. I'll keep the videos coming and if you ever have a question leave a comment and I'll do my best to help as much as I can.

Agree D05 is pretty unforgiving on the BH. Also, I think the throw angle is too high. I find it uncomfortable to close the racket angle that much on BH. D64 and T80 work better on BH for me. I love D05 on forehand though!
@Looeelooee

I haven't played much with d or t 64 or 80 but I've heard great things about them. D05 on my forehand was too soft hence me going with the t05 hard. I feel like a dignics 05 hard could be the best forehand rubber of all time for me at least if they decided to do that

Question...my backhand is solid, been playing 05 for years...now I have had mixed feedbacks regarding Mizutani (in gneral). What are your thoughts on Tenergy 19 on backhand? I like more control/ spin. Also, been playing with Hurracane Neo 3, on forehand for years. As you said, it requires solid technique, b/c the accuracy is not there (boosting, etc.)...I am on the fence...should I switch from FZD super Alc? To Mizutani Super Zlc, Dignics 09C on forehand (I like tacky/spinny rubbers b/c of Hurracane Neo 3), and Tenergy 19 on backhand? Thanks for your video
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee 2 күн бұрын
@aydinj3894 personally T19 is way too soft for me but I think that comes down to style / preference. But if you're looking for a more controlling rubber with extra dwell time compared to something like 05 it's definitely a good option. As for the blade. I would say maybe try changing the rubber first because if you're looking for more control and spin going from the fzd super alc to the mizutani super isnt going to help much with that

Great video! Related to a point in the videos, at what level should I practice the loop/drive off the bounce for both forehand and backhand? This is something that I haven't ever thought of practicing. As of before watching your video, I thought it's quite advance and I should stick with the usual ball timing as much as possible (in a loop, wait for it to drop a bit).
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee 4 ай бұрын
It's hard to place an exact level in terms of when to start learning these shots. I'd moreso say just try to learn it, and if it feels doable then keep practicing it, but if it feels way to difficult then it means you're probably not quite ready to learn it yet. But there's players over 2000 that may not be able to learn it quickly and players who are beginner / intermediate who may pick up the timing and feel for it right away and elevate their level immediately.

Hi Looeelooee, thank for the video. I am using Timo Boll ALC with Rozena on both sides. I am thinking to use Ten 05 hard for my forehand. But I heard that it's for more advanced player as it's much less forgiving compared to Rozena. I can't find the same setup in my club to try. Could you please give some hints when it's considered "advanced" enough to switch to Ten 05 hard for my forehand? (I don't like regular Ten 05 as it's not durable. It's expensive rubbers so I'd like to change it less frequent.). Thanks in advance!
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee Ай бұрын
@@cucuonga1 hello! Just so you're aware for durability 05 hard and 05 have about the same durability so if you had issues with 05 then 05 hard will probably last about the same. But in terms of level I'd say if you're at a point where you can comfortably loop any long ball with any spin without having to slow down your shot at all then you're ok to use 05 hard. But if you're still developing the shot it's probably not for you just yet

@@Looeelooee Also, I heard that before Ten 05 hard, pro version (made for pro, not in the market) of ten 05 is harder than usual ten 05. Until they make ten 05 hard then we can buy it. Do you think it's true?

I've just recently changed my set up from using a Stiga offensive classic with DNA platinum M for forehand and the DNA platinum S for the backhand, I really loved it but wasn't happy with it's spin performance compared to it's DNA pro series but loved it's speed, I went with Tenergy 05 on forehand and Dignics 09C paired with a andro treiber Carbon Inner Off, so far I'm loving the dignics with the far better spin and control but surprised with how fast it is but definitely still getting use to the tenergy, it's very unique characteristics. I've so far gotten a hang of the topspin rallies with the tenergy but not use to looping consistently with it just yet but will continue to develop my skills to try and get the best out of the tenergy
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee 5 ай бұрын
It definitely takes some time to get used to and has some very unique characteristics. But keep sticking with it and once you're fully used to it you'll love it. I almost wanna say you have it backwards as most people would do the 05 on the backhand and 09c on the forehand but if you're comfortable with it and get used to it both are excellent rubbers so you should be good!

@@Looeelooee I don't disagree with you, I've always had a stronger backhand than forehand but I've working on my forehand for the last 2+ years now and I'm confident in saying that there has been huge improvement, I do find the 05 is giving me more consistent shots that are safer but has been the most accurate rubber I've ever used and I love it just for that already

Have you tried the dignics 09c or just read about it? Cause it’s supposed to have the highest throw angle of all the butterfly rubbers and it is indeed very high. The dwell is also better on it than dignics 05

Yes, it’s tricky to use tacky rubbers especially on the backhand
@Looeelooee

Yup it goes both ways too. For people that have had pretty extensive training those who learned on tacky tend to find non tacky really tough to play with especially on pushes and touches and the people who learned on non tacky tend to find tacky way too unforgiving especially on things like sow loops.

Thanks a lot for the review, I play traditional penhold with a 10mm hinoki one-ply blade which is slightly faster that your Mizutani Super ZLC and is very soft but stiff with a high throw angle according to Butterfly global, others who have tried it and my own feeling. I have used Tenergy 05 for many years but am finding that it produces less spin the more that I increase the power in my strokes. I'd like to try a rubber that has more top-end spin for harder loops, as although my game does primarily rely on sheer power on the third ball and away from the table, I would prefer not to sacrifice spin by hitting straight through my sponge. I was wanting to try either the Tenergy 05 Hard or the Dignics 05, but I'm struggling to decide. Please could you let me know what you think.
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee Ай бұрын
I'd say 05 hard is definitely less spinny on the fast shots than tenergy 05 so if you're looking for more spin maybe dignics 05. But I personally find it a little too soft for my own forehand. Maybe try 09c if you can tolerate a slightly tacky surface?
@alekssbelskis3544
@alekssbelskis3544 Ай бұрын
@@Looeelooee Thanks a lot for your reply. From what I’ve heard and also this is why I’m asking, that the reason that spin decreases on harder shots is due to the bottoming out of softer rubbers as the ball penetrates the sponge too much. I thought that this could be alleviated by using a harder sponge, is that not the case?

Interesting! This was a similar setup I was thinking of trying with D05 RPB and Tenergy 05 Hard, Omega VII Hyper or Hammond Z2 on FH. I was inspired by how Cho Daesong and Jang Woojin set up a 4th ball FH kill attack with a BH flick on the receive. Don't know if you've tried Z2 but interested how you compare 05H with the Hyper you reviewed. (Obviously it would feel totally different on my 1 ply G-Max).
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee 5 ай бұрын
Never played with the Z2 so can't really say unfortunately. But the Hyper I'd say is more comparable to something like 09c, it's got more gears / potential but is much less forgiving and also a little harder imo. But also it's been so long since I played with Hyper and it was also on a totally different blade so it's hard to remember.

I read somewhere that hard rubbers are more for near the table game and softer bouncy rubbers with lots of catapult are better for half distance and away from the table..what are your thoughts about this ? Thanks a lot
@Looeelooee
@Looeelooee 5 ай бұрын
It depends on the level because now at the highest level everyone close distance or far distance will all play with relatively hard rubbers because they need the extra gears to stay competitive (and they also all boost which softens it up a little). The thing that they'll change to suit their style most often is the wood they're playing with

@DragonWarrior976

@@Looeelooee Ya, I prefer to have a placement oriented opening with good amount of spin. Since it gives me time to reset for the next shot. Agree with your comments about D05 on bh. It's amazing when the shots are well timed and positioned. But it's quite unforgiving. D80 is more forgiving and better for defense but slightly less spinny and it is faster. I wonder if D80 or D05 is better for me.
