MJ is 6'6, 7ft wingspan, estimated 4.38 40yrd dash, and a 48 inch vert.... add on to that, he averaged 38 min a game. The average size of a guard in todays nba is roughly 6'3-6'5.... Jordan would FUCKING eat these boys alive. The vast majority of them cant play def and those that can, cant shoot. Only a few that can do both and none are on MJs level. Who is stopping him from driving and just dunking? MJ may "only" be 215, but everyone who played him said he was deceptively strong and cat quick. There are highlights of him out muscling bigs in his era. You can go look. LEGIT 7 footers and power forwards. MJ easily averages 40-45.

Mj was the greatest midrange shooter of all time. His form was flawless. No reason to think he wouldn't be at least a average 3 pt shooter. He was a average 3 pt shooter back in the day and said himself he chose not work on that because it would take away from his game.

Think about this: Jordan was a mid 3-point shooter by today's standards, because he didn't HAVE to learn the 3-ball. In his comeback 94 season, he shot 50% on the few attempts he did make, and 95-96 Jordan, the juggernaut season, he shot almost 43%. Now imagine putting him in today's game, with him knowing that he needed to be a 3-ball shooter.

After shooting 5 3's in a row and blowing the trailblazers in that finals game, He said in the interview that he doesn't like to shoot 3's. It takes away from everything else from his offense. He does not like camping in the corner waiting for the ball. You also have to remember shooting a 2 and then a foul is worth a lot more than just shooting 3's. You weaken the defense if you stack up the fouls and it makes everything easier. One more point- Jordan highest scoring avg was 37. He shot less than 1 thee-pointer a game. He doesn't need the 3 to get a shit load of buckets. Jordan never shot the 3's in the early part of his career because no-one was doing it in the league at that time. After he came back from his retirement, Jordan shot 40% during the '96 season.

1987 his average was 37 in a highly physical era. His playoff average is 33. So in an era where the 3pt range is shorter and the physicality is less, MJ would easily dominate more.

Bro In 92’ the Blazers strategy was to take away the mid range and ability to get to the basket. They basically sagged off of Mike and to dared him to shoot 3’s. He hit 6, 3’s in the first half. An NBA finals record that stood for 18 years. He had 0 weaknesses. As a matter of fact, he excelled at every single aspect of the game. Individual perimeter defenders are longer and more athletic than in the 80s and 90s but team defenses are much, much worse than they were when Jordan played. In Jordan's era, the spacing was not good. Defenses played with double posts and had 3-4 guys in the lane at all times. Now, with the pace and space, the defenders are on an island. It is a lot harder to help at the rim. I don't think anyone will average 50 but Mike would average 40-45. He averaged 37.1 in an era with worse spacing. You had a good point, though. If he is on a good team, where he trusts his teammates, he won't average 40. Winning is more important to him than that.

These are some of the best players of all time who have played Michael Jordan and a few who have played in the Lebron era. Yet you ignore the wisdom and firsthand experience they are offering. You either have a beef of some sort with Jordan and are not being objective or you really don't understand the fundamental aspects about the game of basketball. I've been an NBA fan since the mid 1970's and coached youth basketball for years. I am Michael Jordan’s age and have seen all of the greats since the 1970’s. 2 of my 3 sons played competitive basketball through high school here in North Carolina. My middle son even attended camps with Stephon Curry that his dad, Dell Curry, sponsored here in the Charlotte area. Michael Jordan is definitely the GOAT. In reality, he could average pretty much whatever he wanted in today's game. But, given that he is a team player and that's what it takes to win games, I think he would average around 45. I’ve seen everyone over the last 45+ years. IMO, Michael Jordan has the best BALANCE of FG%, FT%, clutch play, great offense, great defense, makes teammates better, great team play, shares the ball, passing ability, finishing, coachable, high basketball IQ, finds a way to win, has all areas of the basic fundamentals down pat, seeks high % shots FIRST, knows where teammates are on the court at all times, able to score while being fouled, played against tougher competition, played against great defenses. No one today has ALL of these attributes. Lebron flops, gives up on defense (a huge negative), and has choked in too many key games. He couldn’t even get the Lakers to the playoffs in 2022, which was one of the weakest NBA seasons ever. This past season proved again that he can't win when it counts the most. All of these negatives are glaring and bring down his value. Consistently winning the close games is what separates icon players from everyone else. Though today's players have a lot of talent, most players lack most of these attributes and no one has all of them. Defense and team play are almost nonexistent today compared to the 80’s/90’s. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson (by far) are the most clutch players of all time, did it against the best defenses of all time, and did it during the most talent rich era of all time (80’s/90’s). Jordan had 2 threepeats and 6 championships in 8 years, again, during the NBA's Golden Era. There is more athleticism today overall, but the overall talent level was much better then, trust me. I will take fundamentals/teamwork over athleticism any day. That will be what wins the most games. Today’s game is extremely sloppy and there’s very little defense. I’ve seen every era from the 1970’s until today. Because of the addiction to three pointers, lack of teamwork, and lack of defense the game of basketball is not nearly as exciting and interesting. It seems that many young people who do not understand the fundamental attributes of the game and haven’t seen players pre -2000 play night in and night out are the ones who claim that Lebron is the best. Older people who have seen decades of the best players and can see Lebrons weaknesses. This past season proved why Lebron is not only not the GOAT, he’s not even top 5.
