OG’s were actually $140. It was pretty insane for a shoe in 1993. I remember my pair with tax was 151, got for my 15th birthday.

Couldn’t have been because when I first got in the game in 1995, my Concord 11s were $125. No way this pair went to $140 then back down again in 95.

My first pair was Infared 6’s in spring 91’, $125. 7’s were also $125, but the 8’s were notable for being especially expensive for an early 90’s sneaker. 9’s went back down to $125 and each J stayed there until the 12’s when there was an increase to $135, then the 13’s were $150.

Correct. 7s retailed for $130, I still have my OG box from 1992 with the original Champs price tag. I remember the price going up to $140 on the 8s and saving til I could buy the Playoff 8s

Glad you compared these MJ. People say this retro is off because "the toebox and windows don't have a charcoal contrast blah blah blah. The og 8s didn't have that contrast either. But what do I know? I've only been outside with Jordans since 1985. Color code 6 is red.

Amazing comparison. I see the differences but I find them minute overall. The grey edging is the only thing I really miss but definitely copping. I think Nike did a pretty good job. Thanks, bro. 😀

I had the OGs in 10th grade back in "93. The retros will stress and turn white with age on the uppers and panels. I never remembered mine being white out the box like that.

What I remember most about VII's and VIII's growing up...is that only kids had them. I don't know if it was the cartoon advertisements, the fact that the Jordan line was now competing with more sigs than ever, or if I just remember it that way because I was a kid myself at that time...

Well the AJ 10s weren’t as forgiving. Too skinny to have them scrunched together. The retro style boxes are enough for me.

They hadn't. It was a veeeeeery dark grey, almost black. The sole on these OG's is deteriorating and oxidised which gives it a grey look.

Love the 8's and good job for preserving a 30-year-old relic. I remember back then Nike was either produced in Taiwan or S. Korea, and the quality was much better than current retros. I cop mine on the Nike app today, wish they will release the Aqua or B.bunny soon.

I still like the black edges of the leather more but i don't mind the white edge like the 93. On the 11s i nevered liked the white edge but for these I'm okay with it if they eventually decided to mimic that.

Glad to see another video from you! I enjoy the side-by-side comparison of your archived OG’s. I really miss that white outline on all the panel pieces, it just kind of helps break up the upper for me. I did get the last release of the aquas, And after brushing the edges back with my thumb for a bit I was able to kind of re-create that White border look. I hope you make more videos, but at very least please come back for the Cherry 12s I mean come on what a great shoe. Sneaker of the year right there for me! Hopefully I can get a pair 😢.

Great to see a comparison like this. I actually like the furry white cut edge on the nubuck of the originals. It really lets you see the panels and design of the shoe. That being said, I never could hang with the 8s. I bought them twice over 10 years apart and got rid of them almost instantly both times.

Good to see you back on the tube reviewing shoes. Queue “welcome back” by Ma$e. I did pick these up and definitely like the way the feel on feet. A little more cushioned than the last aqua 8 retro, which is the only other 8 I’ve ever owned. Overall I like them, and perfect timing for fall winter. These will be on feet more often than not

I attribute that to the insole. They do feel better. Be sure to hit it with the nubuck/suede protector spray. Be careful out there in the elements!

I did hit on these on release day, but months later I had buyer’s remorse and sold these. The shape at the collar and the neoprene boot and pull tab sinking into it bothered me a lot. Now I’m on the lookout for an ‘07 retro to restore because I believe it’s closer to the OG as far as shape; it’ll just need a midsole repaint and the pull tab to be painted red to be a lot closer to the original

Surprised you didn’t mention the outer plastic graphic on the retro is longer than the OG. The new one meets at the middle of the hill on the midsole. The OG meets much lower on the hill. Review was amazing as usual!

These 2023 retros are more a greyish black playoff 8 s ! I remember back in 1993 I wanted the aquas 8 couldnt get those got diamond turfs instead ! Nice video as always !

Good to have when you can Marvin! Comparison always on point. The back part shape is different don’t know if they will get it right one day. And I was surprised to see that the toe box was boxier on the OG. But like you I think the new shape is better. Releasing Saturday here in Europe. We will see. But I don’t have any 8 in my collection. Got rid of the 2012 Aqua because they were in bad shape.

The white outline on the original where not how they came that was just due to wearing the nubuck along the stitch line would always have that slight frayed outline. The retro look very close to the original!

These are nostaglia for me. In 7th grade (Sept07) my first retro i got was the white orange silver 8s to go with the chad johnson jersey( yeah i know 00s everyone had him or LT lol). Then my dad got me these. I then traded them for thunder 4s…which ended up being fake. Ive been downsizing my shoe buying/collection etc. So these are a cop but gunna pass for now. I dont see these going for much. Below retail/retail because “nobody likes 8s” so one day i might pick up. 8s are super comfy like 12s/13s & theyre so perfect for northeast fall/winter weather

I really wish they would go back to the 2007 design. The pull tab hiding in the shoe really throws off the look. Also the jet black nubuck is a bit funky, we need lighter nubuck and the grey/white in the cuts to break up the shoe👌

Not sure if this is something you are into, but I would use the retro midsoles and resole the OGs so you can wear them again. I have a few old Nikes that I have this redone. The quality of the OG materials you feel the difference when you wear them.
