This was a brilliant movie I remember when it come out in 1986 I was at secondary school but it really did hit home with me because I lost my brother in 1987 and my parents were exactly the same this really does bring back memories of the 1980s I was gutted when river phoenix died , kids don’t do this anymore I spent my whole summer holidays out like this as a kid obviously not searching for dead bodies but just the sheer adventure of being out with friends climbing trees etc it doesn’t happen anymore with this generation its all about computer games staying in really enjoy your movie reactions ❤

Ok when I was 12 the only friends I had where cousins and got into boys at that age (they where 1yr older and 1yr younger) dropped me in less than a year and have not talked to me much since then plus I've not had a friend since then so we'll .... But I love this movie and it is in my top 10 movies in my library and I have a little over 2000 movies, I have been collecting my library for about 30yrs.

This movie was one of the most earnest and heartfelt depictions of childhood one can watch. It also was a more positive take on Stephen King’s story. In “the Body” Gordy is the only one who lived to be a mature adult. And Within weeks after the stand off with Ace, they all get the crap kicked out of them at some point by members of the gang.

Some other good movies based on books written by Stephen King are, Carrie (1976), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Misery (1990), Dolores Claiborne (1995), The Green Mile (1999). I was aboy in the 70s and we were always having adventures . . . . dangerous as well as just plain fun. Our generation invented moto-cross and skateboarding. Glad you guys liked this movie. it was one of my favorites when I was younger because I had similar friendships growing up. Boy did we always seem to wind up getting ourselves into some kind of mess. Although we never went to see a dead body, we built the tree house, camped out all the time, went exploring through the woods behind our houses, and were usually outside doing something from dawn until the street lights came on. I had read the short story by Stephen King before the movie came out so I was stoked when it hit the theaters. It's completely different than most of his novels, but one of his best in my opinion. Watching it as an adult it takes on an even greater significance that you don't appreciate when you're a kid.

Once, at a company picnic, I entered the pie eating contest and we had to eat our pies just like in this scene with Davie Hogan. River Phoenix (Actor who played Chris) is Joaquin Phoenix brother. He was such a huge deal in the late 80s and early 90s. A very talented Actor who was in the pack with Keanu reeves, Johnny Depp, Christian slater and such etc. He died young at the age of 23 in 1993, if he was alive he wouldve taken most of the movies Dicaprio made and Johnny Depp. Many directors had him in mind for their upcoming movies as he was the hot shot of the time
