No way! I did the same thing with the tinsel and clear balls I picked up from my local dollar tree! I did a red and silver theme and put a bunch in a big bowl for a small centerpiece on my dining room table. My 4 year old daughter helped me fill them up and we raced to see who could fill up their ball the fastest… I may have let her win a couple times 😝

Fantastic pattern..using wool yarn from our family trip to Iceland this year. Making keepsake ornaments for all! Found the clear balls on sale at Michaels. The small ones like are shown here, used 5.0 hook, and Lettlopi Lopi wool. Lovely balls!

I found luck using a 3.5 mm hook for my normal yarn from walmart. I might go to 4 and do the finishing off at the top though as it was snug
