I’m “hooked” on making mittens lately and I love the way you did the thumb in this pattern. Going to give it a try today. Thank you.

You, madam, are one of the best instructors I've found on here. You go step by step, slowly and explain exactly how to do each step. I actually made mittens! I still need to work on tension and sizing up/down - I didn't have a L hook, closest was a J. I guestimated by swatch ( never done that either) provided and - ta-da!

I'm new to crochet and stumbled on this video. Thought I would give it a go but didn't have much hope as only beginner. They turned out great and this tutorial is so easy to follow. Thank you 👍😊

Hello, I thought the 16 rows for the cuff for the men's size was too small. Lol! So, I did 20 rows and my son said it was too big, then I tried 18 and it was just a little too big. And then I did what you told me to do in the pattern. Lol! And it was snug but good and after I kept trying it on him for length, it turned out perfectly! The only change I made was I added a sc row onto the end of the thumb because it was just a smidge short for my son's thumb. I will add a hdc next time or add the sc at the bottom of the thumb, because the sc kinda puckered the end of the thumb a little, but not too much. This is the first mitten pattern that I have ever made that turned out the way it was supposed to! Oh, and I used wool ease thick & quick and a 8mm hook. Thanks so much!

These are so fantastic! First mitt I made wasn't great so tried again and it turned out so nice! Used a 7mm hook for the cuff since my first one was super loose. Going to make the bulky hat next!

Okay maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I’ve been crocheting for years now, but every size I have tried to make in these just don’t fit they are always too small. I tried the adult size and needed to add several more rows to the cuff, and same with the toddler size I had ti add several more rows because it wouldn’t go on my babys hand. And I was even using a 10m hook.
@shannonbolger66602 ай бұрын
Me neither. I have to add rows too.

Curious as to what you consider your first “row” for the 14 rows?

I am liking how fast these crochet up... but what I am not liking is the space that is between the double crochets.. a lot of air to get through. May I inquire how come you used a double crochet stitch and not a half double or a single crochet to make them more air tight? ;)
@cindyw5610 күн бұрын

What do I need to do so there is not as much space between the stitches? I feel like air will blow right through them.
@mjsoffthehook2 жыл бұрын
Either use a smaller hook or this might not be the right pattern for you. The bulky stitches are so large that there will naturally be bigger spaces with this kind of yarn
@evareynolds24462 жыл бұрын
I love the mitten! I just thought that I did something wrong.
Going through tutorials to refresh myself as I have not crocheted or years. I now realized that my Mom did not hold her hook correctly therefore neither do I
@mjsoffthehook2 ай бұрын
Most people tell me I hold my crochet hook wrong. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to hold it. Just as long as it’s comfortable for you and gets the job done!😊
