I think you really hit the nail on the head with the art style critique, I really think it feels really sporadic and unfocused. It's funny though, because Teen Titans was the first DC cartoon to use an anime aesthetic 20 years ago and it made complete sense for that series in a way that felt thematically cohesive. Most people would simply say they made that show look like an anime because of the medium's boom of popularity in the early 2000s, but thematically it really uses that sort of contemporary zeitgeist to its advantage. It's a series with an inherently more youthful and adolescent vibe to it unlike most DC shows at the time, so using the aesthetics of what most teens were into at the time (anime, which was being widely broadcast in the west on the same channel TT was airing) not only fits the teen cast but the redesigns were strong and iconic enough to hold their own weight and has become arguably the most iconic form of the characters they adapted. With this show, it feels more like the series is visually just copying She-Ra and Voltron's homework regardless of whether or not it works or makes sense for the character or universe
@DemonicRemption6 ай бұрын
@ink1931 This is sad because as an anime fan and DC Comics fans I assumed that Teen Titans carried its soft anime aesthetic to bank on anime's popularity at the time. What's worst is as an artist it never occurred to me that the artists took advantage of the aesthetic by implementing elements that gave the characters their youthful appearances. That said you're right in how My Adventures With Superman goes with an aesthetic too similar to She-Ra and Voltron. That's why I disagree with J about the people who worked on this being more of fans of anime than DC. But I'm forgetting that there are a variety of fans, and how some lack the understanding of how art aesthetics work.

The point you made in the beginning is it. "Just goes to show that characters don't need to be race or gender swapped to be completely unrecognizable." What happens are characters are taken and changed to make their show and we have to deal with it. With the follow-up about spawn being the finisher. To often "they" have an idea of what should entertain us based on what they like, how it should be done and we aren't allowed to enjoy things until they are corrected.

I hate how they copied the "Lois threatens suicide if Clark Kent doesn't prove he's Superman" bit from the comics and even the Richard Donner Superman movies verbatim without y'know, CRITIQUING Lois's selfish short sighted actions. Not only is an outdated element from the source material, but with how serious the topic of suicide is taken these days both in real life as well as in media, you would think they'd have this Clark Kent calmly talk Lois Lane out of throwing herself off a building just to make a point while also confirming Lois's suspicions without making it obvious that yes, Clark Kent and Superman are never seen in the same room together. Basically play to Kal El's empathy for the human race which is the key reason why he's Superman, not because of his powers. Then you could have had Lois Lane now knowing for certain her boyfriend is the same guy she's been searching for as a reporter break down in tears as she lets out her personal problems that led to her threatening to game end herself in the first place while Clark Kent consoles her like the Superman he is. But wait, I forgot, you can't have a man be a woman's rock in her hour of need in modern western entertainment now can you? Nah, its always gotta be "strong independent woman" stereotype being validated for having an objectively toxic personality by Twitter buffoons and said toxic behavior being rewarded as we saw here in My Adventures with Superman or before that, the animated adaptation of Invincible with the main protagonist's girlfriend whose name escapes me at the moment. Or worse, people like Godzilla Mendoza, yes, the Spider-Man KZbinr, defending Lois Lane's selfish decision because "well it happened in the comics" when he of all people should know better than that since just because "it happened in the comics" doesn't mean its worth adapting wholesale in an adaptation.

I really liked GM's past videos though in his Invincible review he did oddly dance around bringing up Amber (annoying gf) and how she differed greatly from the comic and regardless was an annoying asshole. Understandably, he didn't seem to delve to deep into critiquing identity politics but a recent review on modern Spider-Man comics showed he doesn't seem to care much for fans who critique identity politics or something to that regard.
@narrowmax73824 ай бұрын
Except you missed the whole point and Lois was in fact not validated. Her ambitious yet aggressive nature is what caused her to make such a rash decision, a characteristic that we’ve seen throughout the series time and time again either for the better or worse, in fact it’s what got her so far as a reporter. But in the outcome it turned out for the worse causing both sides to depart, but when they get back together and in the very end who apologizes? Lois Lane. She wasn’t rewarded for her “toxic” behavior despite it being understandable(not right but understandable), how the man that she loved might have just used her and lied to her despite both promising each other no more lies. But its not like she completely disregarded Clark like how Amber disregarded Mark, they still talked to each other and in the very end she heard everything Clark had to say from his point of view and apologized. The reason it took so long was due to her seeing Clark and Superman as 2 separate entities, Lois didn’t entirely trust Superman but trusted Clark hence why when Clark claimed Superman was a guy who does good because it’s the right thing Lois declines and says that if only Clark were Superman that he would do such a thing but since Superman had so much to hide she believed that he was rather up to something, so you could imagine the shock on Lois when Clark turned out to be Superman, a person she didn’t trust was the person she trusted. It’s not an outdated element, it’s just not used right but here in this show it was used right, the reason for you saying otherwise is rather due to looking at it from the surface level. Not trying to insult or anything but just don’t go around judging to quickly👍

I have so many mixed feelings for this show. I really love Clark/Superman's portrayal, they got him so right. Plus, his group dynamic with Jimmy and Lois is pretty strong and is probably when the show is at its best. However, the villain are pretty bad in both designs and characters, the pacing is schizophrenic, and the growing romance between him and Lois, while conceptually sound, feels kinda rushed. I'm hoping that the next season listens to the criticism and makes a stronger series when it returns.

I think the problem is the short season format. Credit where it's due: the writers of this show did actually tell a complete story within the confines of just 10 episodes, unlike Dave Filoni with his Ahsoka. He has only 8 episodes but treats them as part of a full 24 episodes season and drags the pacing and stretches the heck out of the story. The writers of My adventures with Superman on the other hand are competent enough and respectful for the audience's time so they do give us set up and pay off for all the story beats and tell us quite a lot of stories in the 10 episodes they were given. It would have been better if they had full tv style seasons to work with. They deserve it and the show would have been better for it, I think...

It's not necessarily hate. On either Lex or Bruce's point. Definitely not for Bruce or Bats would have nothing to do with him. There's a line from I believe the comic Hush - or one of the ones where he's using Kyrptonite to win; and he shares with the audience that he KNOWS the only real reason he ever has done is BECAUSE Clark ALWAYS hold back. "Because at the end, at the heart of it - he's a good person. And when it comes down to it, I'm not." Lex does genuinely hate that Superman is the literal manifestation of everything he wants to be, that he can never attain naturally. Even as an 11th level intellect with more money than God. He is afraid of the one man on earth that basically is a living God. (Also directly descended from one - unless that's been retconned? o.O ) Bruce is frankly more rightly afraid of what all Clark COULD do. If he chose to, and if he was just that little bit more actually human. He's jealous that Clark is as good a man as he is, because it holds a mirror up to the lie Bruce lives. Which is really only enforced by his strict code of honor. Bruce also as much as they butt heads for being two alpha males, respects the ever-loving hell out of him. There's a reason for the impact when Clark gives Bruce the Kryptonite Bullet in the comic Tower of Babel. Both of them know that if push came to shove and Superman did ever actually go that dark; Bruce would not have the reaction time to be able to use it. At all. The offering is more a safety blanket, to the broken kid still inside of Bruce, who needs it. From his best friend. True blue, to the end. Because Clark is aware of the scars he has, and knows very well that matters to Bruce. It's symbolic rather than practical. Like a talisman shared between them. There are a LOT of people that misunderstand the hell out of Supes. Because when you examine him, and everything he SHOULD be... not just in what he can do; what he's been through, who he is, how he was raised. What he chooses to do with the power he has... we should all be DAMNED thankful that he is exactly as benevolent as he is. [I also appreciate that while it makes him look weaker, what he's actually doing is feeling out what the enemy can dish out, and potentially take. So he knows how much to put out himself. That way he doesn't inadvertantly maim or kill an opponent in battle. Though it does make him take a few more hits than he really has to] He also has been quoted in that show - and the Darkseid Speech is pretty much one of my favorite scenes in that whole series by the way - as saying; I'm the shield for all of you. Because I can take the hits you can't. I'll take them, so you don't have to. Or something to that effect.

How he looked in Knights & Dragons and the TT Earth One series is already close to how Slade looks in this cartoon. Yeah I can't relate. I only because a 'fan' of Death Stroke, after he saved his daughter and tried to save his son. He starts off mysterious and composed with his job, believing he is part of the Good Guys. Then he ends up -with his eye injured- and standing by Waller. He was hurt, and seems too young to be affected by the Zero Day incident. Who is he? Why does he work in this millitary branch? Is he gonna get backstabbed by Waller? How will he backstab Waller?

I think the main issue people have with this show, with how it does Superman is that it does things differently. It's not just the anime influence, or Clark not being able to bench press mountains, it's how they handle things like characters, liike the villains being all tech base, with two villains being made into allies and even how Krypton is handled. Instead of Clark knowing about his Kryptonian heritage, understanding it, it is instead a source of conflict/drama for him, as he sees it as this inhuman aspect of himself he wants to escape from, represented by Jor-El not speaking English I think. It is very clearly a Superman story, but yet it is also very different, but I think a majority of those differences were done because they had a specific kind of story in mind to tell. I think there is a reason the main antagonists are Ivo/Parasite and the General. The first is a proto-Luther, hell many suspect his assistent 'Alex' will be wearing a lot of green down the line, and he is also direct a foil for each other. Clark is an alien with inhuman powers but a lot of humanity, and Ivo is a human with alien tech and lacking in humanity. Clark helps, Ivo is a 'parasite' only interested in himself. It is different, and intentionally and I'm honestly interested in seeing how they continue in season 2.
@gtf234 Жыл бұрын
Everything being tech and robots is a throwback that is showing people's ages- it's Golden Age stuff. The staff said a lot of influence is from the Max Fleischer cartoons of the early 1940s, and back in the Golden Age Superman fought a lot of goofy robots....when he wasn't being used a war propaganda figure fighting Nazis and Japanese. And the bigger revisions to characters were reserved for people who weren't that critical to Superman: Dr Ivo being used as Parasite is fine because Ivo's been dead or irrelevant way longer than he was ever depicted alive and threatening in his own capacity, he's only known more as "the guy that built Amazo"; The Brain and Monsieur Mallah are from the Doom Patrol, they never really crossed paths with Superman stuff and they've basically been a married couple since the 60s...them just being irresponsible but endearing mad scientists instead of running the Brotherhood of Evil should really be no skin off anybody's back, etc. The people who mattered most are played pretty straight when considering they are making a Year One style story, those being General Lane and Amanda Waller- Lane's a little more tempered compared to his absolutist jarhead persona in the comics but it's fine for the role they need him to play when they keep Waller as true-form as she should be....and they could always pull out General Wade Eiling to be the even more brutal hardcore military meathead who thirsts to kill everything America can't literally control...the guy who made Major Force and would eagerly put his mind into the Shaggy Man's body or juice himself on Captain Nazi serum, depending on the continuity, if it let him destroy the Justice League for not being subservient to the US government. At the end of the day, they're trying not to just rehash the exact same origin story and material we've seen a million times already but show they've definitely done their homework, know the characters they're working with, and care about what they're making. Shit like Jimmy being a radically new design for example really shouldn't matter when the second he starts talking you can immediately see he's still the same goober we understand "Jimmy Olsen, Superman's Pal" is supposed to be...even his damn youtube channel is old dank Superman fluff references- Flamebird is a Kryptonian mythical space-dragon Jimmy Olsen used as a handle when he and Superman were having adventures in the Bottled City of Kandor back in the 60's, Superman was Nightwing (which was expressly where Dick Grayson got the name after leaving the Robin role)

I watched the first 5-6 episodes, and I really appreciated most of the takes on main characters, and the general vibe of the show being more in line with classic Superman. But just a few episodes in and had the STRONG impression that the directors and various leads behind this series were very fresh; with little-to-no experience, and almost as if on queue I came across a post on twitter by one of the screen writers (I believe it was the head screen writer) posting about how they were so excited to have their first big job, and that pretty much sealed my assumption that this was a team of fresh faces. That's not an issue though; everyone's got to start somewhere, but it felt too derivative to me, like they had very few ideas that were their own, so they were just plugging in designs and tropes from things they knew to fill in the many, many gaps that were left, and then there were a ton of shots and scene sequences that made no logical sense, and it collectively just pulled me out of the show too much to care to finish it; and I'm a moderately dedicated Superman fan. That said, I hope they do get a second season, so that they can put what they hopefully learned from working on this season to make a better, more refined extension of this promising project.

While I'm okay with how CADMUS is more about genetic engineering/cloning in this, that's because I'm familiar enough with the books to know that how they normally are while the DCAU merged CADMUS with Checkmate. Most of the other changes, I will say, don't really click with me. A lot of the designs feel kinda poor and making almost every villain tech based while they were metahumans in other things was bizarre. With Silver Banshee and Deathstroke, I got the feeling that the creators cared more about having characters that looked like Ryoko from Tenchi or Gray Fox from Metal Gear than trying to adapt the characters. Besides, Superman already has a bunch of tech based villains like Metallo and Toyman, so why not use one of them? I get the feeling some of the writers didn't get the troubling issues how Mallah and Brain are in this show because they were too focused on having a gay ship. I love Superman/Clark, been a Long-Time Fan of the Character ever since I was young. I also really dig Anime but man... After many Years since "Superman: TAS" I was very disappointed in the show. While I liked SOME things from it like Supes/Clark himself, Black Jimmy, & trying to be more SliceOfLife-ish but everything else for me falls apart. I HATE the implementation of the "Kryptonian Language" (more like Gibberish) that I find to be pointless so I have to disagree that it was a "Nice Change" since in previous iterations we see Hologram Jor-El speak English regardless & moves the plot organically forward (like in the Classic Superman Films & Man Of Steel). The Villains being drawn & written were the worse offenders making the Story suffer drastically (Suicide Squad vs. Superman... Enough with that nonsensical idea). I STRONGLY agree how they handled the Multiverse here because it was rushed, contrived, & not much to be bothered with.

In defense of Snyder’s take on Superman, the point there was to give Superman an arc where he goes from someone unsure of his place in the world to being the ideal hero. You see parts of that in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and it would’ve culminated in the grand finale had the original plan been followed. It’s more like Superman going on a Luke Skywalker-esque Hero’s Journey to becoming the ideal hero (and without the treatment Disney gave Luke in the Sequels, at least with the original ending). Was probably the best way to reconcile the two views on Superman. He’s still the ideal hero at the end, but since we see his journey getting there, growing and going through a lot of problems, it feels earned. Unfortunately, executive meddling cut all that down, pleasing no one.

Alot of people rip on zack but for his portrayal of superman. But i personally think it does make for a realistic interpretation of a being with superpowers who grows into his true self while also seeing the realistic depictions of how people would see him as a god. I do think people can be abit to harsh on his different interpretation and i believe he did understand the characters and it was a growth the characters would go through.
@gameragodzilla Жыл бұрын
@@lostonegrey1555 Yeah. Again, the entire point was for Superman to become the hero. So that way he can have struggles and doubt himself, even going through the lowest point in BvS like Luke did in ESB, but still comes out the end the hero. There’s also a lot of Watchmen influence there, and while Dr. Manhattan eventually lost his humanity and didn’t gain it back until it was too late, Superman never lost it and he saves the day at the end. That’s definitely inspiring, and the dark harshness beforehand does make the final heroism feel sweeter.

Casting him as a teenage really connect for the audience back then, because he not only he was learning his power, but also dealing personal issues being lying his love ones about his true idenfity, his relationship with Lux, school life, losing friends & family, dealing other superpower people, learn ing his action/word have consequence, etc. The show really did excellent good on Superman/Clark kent character as whole and even other characters too.

I think when people say ''Western animation needs to learn from anime.'' this isn't what they have in mind. They usually mean better animation, better writing, and better action. Not sailor moon-like transformation and ''funny'' faces. It's too anime for me. It tires way too hard to be ‘’kawaii desu’’. Bummer that there is no lyrics in the opening and the music doesn't feel like anything Superman. It's just a generic guitar. At least there is an intro instead of just a title card. We need the art of the opening songs back. The early 2000s and 2010s had the right idea: Totally spies Winx Club Ben 10 W.I.T.C.H. Teen Titans Thundercats 2011 TMNT

@gtf234 Жыл бұрын
While he looks nothing like any past design, the moment he introduces himself and starts talking, it clicks "Yeah that's him all right" Same with a lot of these radical redesigns for main characters- they still get who these characters are and what makes them, them. Jimmy's still a complete goober that is recognizably "Jimmy Olsen: Superman's Pal" even if he's not a pasty ginger in this incarnation. I still can't get over Lois looking so much like Luz from the Owl House, but that's more about me meming than genuinely disliking it, the shorthaired tomboy look works; she's definitely still recognizably the standard takes-no-shit Lois Lane characterization, just younger to match this Year One style story. As for the villains, the only ones who really matter in my opinion were General Lane and Amanda Waller, who are pretty spot on. Lane's a bit softer in this, and that's fine too since they want him to serve as a contrast to Waller's classic ruthlessness and frankly there's so many other stubborn military jarheads in the DC IPs just like classic Lane if they want to go back to that, like General Eiling (who is the one simply being called The General usually refers to anyway). But Livewire, Silver Banshee, Mist, Heatwave...they're throwaways in their story presence and again, that's fine for a Year One story...Deathstroke being a young prettyboy feels odd to me but again, it's not some fatal offense and it ended with him setting up to segue into a look more matching his iconic design and character (assuming they do play into that his employer literally set up the scenario that just disfigured him, any played straight Deathstroke would not simply tolerate that). All that aside, I really liked what they did with The Brain and Monsieur Mallah...sure they just threw out the Brotherhood of Evil, but Mallah as a mad scientist Mr Rogers was delightful. My final assessment is that while they changed a lot, the staff show they do KNOW where it all came from and show they do care about the material while reinventing it to not just be the same shit we've seen a million times already. Even the idea that most of these enemies are tech based villains and boxy pots and pans robots is right out of the Golden Age comics- Superman mainly fought goofy robots (when he wasn't fighting Nazis or the Japanese) in those and in the Max Fleischer cartoon...they even had Clark punching a beam weapon out of the way like in the Fleischer show.

Lately it feels like nobody wants to make the shows that they've been asked to make. This show clearly wants to be a mecha anime. The people behind thundercats Roar just wanted to do a show for the 5-8 audience. ND Stevenson actively hated the original She-ra. I'm doubtful that whoever made lower decks had even watched star trek. Hollywood actresses apparently hate the old Disney movies that they've been asked to help remake. Nobody is happy to just be a part of a creative endeavour anymore. It all has to suit their exact tastes and interests.
@gtf234 Жыл бұрын
The emphasis on tech and pots-and-pans robots is because their stated influence is the Golden Age- especially the Max Fleischer cartoon- and the kinda wacky early Silver Age material- which are pretty ideal for the Year One style story they were making. Superman, and the JSA and JLA in general, fought a lot of silly robots back then, he also wasn't so powerful back then either; most throwaway villains of that era were mad scientists and that included most of the original Justice Society foes. Even things the Shaggy Man, who are (because there's at least 3 of them) hilariously still framed as a threat the JLA even at their modern senses of scale can't defeat, were the results of freak weird science accidents. But there's also a practical story purpose for everyone being more tech based instead of being metahumans in that it connects all the antagonists together and into the main plot of the whole failed Kryptonian invasion from decades earlier.

There's a kind of story that's a hero's journey, where the challenge is for the young character to face challenges and mature, to become a grown man. But I think Superman, like The Lone Ranger, or John Carter, or Tarzan, or Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star), is already a grown man, and his values are strong. The point of stories about these types of characters is that they help people, and they change the world for the better. It's not about "Will they make the right decisions?"

I said this on another video about this topic, but I feel like they should have replaced Slade with Metallo since A: Metallo is a Superman associated villain and not a Batman or Justice League associated one, since Deathstroke is most commonly known for being a Batman or Justice league villain. B: It could open up a storyline about Metallo being a big name in the mercenary world, but he gets easily thrashed by Superman because Superman is superhuman. Then you can have a kind of arc where he slowly starts augmenting himself to match Superman until eventually he goes full Metallo. I also have to painfully agree with the livewire argument since apart from the name there’s no connection to the source material, and even if the Shock Jock angle was considered outdated, you can easily have her as an independent reporter who’s distrusting of Superman, and finds herself in a similar situation as in the Animated cartoon; or Cadmus can experiment on her and give her the Livewire powers. I feel like this show is best described as interesting ideas and good potential that’s only halfway utilized. Missed opportunities and questionable choices all around, but not the worst modern day cartoon or show by a long shot.

This is how I would have done it, since they want the characters to be younger. Get rid of Jimmy, first I really hate race swaps, second Jimmy was at least 5 years younger the Clark and Louis. John Henry (Steel) would have been perfect as his roommate. Since the show is heavily influenced by tech. Why not use an engineer character who happens to be black. He can help Louis and Clark with the weird tech. Livewire can be a KZbin influencer like Logan Paul, she would kinda like background noise, like how Harvy Dent showed up before he became two face in BTAS. Let Louis be Louis, a sharp tongue no nonsense type of girl. Put her in a skirt, nothing wrong with being feminine.

Many who say Superman is boring or perfect don't understand the character. Superman put it best saying he lives in a word of cardboard and fighting Darkseid. This Clark just feels more of punchline, like braking everything and needing a bib to eat donuts while still struggling to find out "Who he is" things he would have known before going to Metropolis. Jimmy just looks like Bow as well as Mxyzptlk looks like he's from shera, which isn't surprising given the people that worked on the show. And Lex just looks like an evil version of Peter from that forgotten Spider-Man show. I don't think the showrunners are fans of anime, just "Take from popular anime and watch people point at the reference" trope. Also; I think real anime fans/studio could do better. Look at Spider-Man: False Red. While a Manga, it's still a good story.

I didn’t entirely hate My Adventures With Superman, but there was a lot I felt the show could’ve improved on. The plot feels clunky and rushed. There are things that the story should’ve spent more time developing and other things that could’ve been left out entirely until later (like the multiverse). Also, none of the villains stand out in terms of their design, personality, or motivations, and I found them all to be rather bland. Their fights were also not great. In almost every fight scene, the villain has some obvious weakness, and then once that’s dealt with, Superman punches them, and the fight is over. I think they wrote it that way so Lois and Jimmy would have opportunities to help, but there were more creative ways to do that. The best example of this is what they did with Mr. Mxyzptlk (Spoilers for episode 7). Since Mr. Mxyzptlk’s original character is that he’s this all-powerful multidimensional being, but he’s neither omnipotent nor super intelligent. So, the best way to defeat him is by exploiting his egocentric and mischievous personality and outsmarting him into losing his own game. In most versions, the way to defeat him is by tricking him into saying his name backward, but there are many other games/challenges a writer could come up with. In My Adventures With Superman, they made Mr. Mxyzptlk’s weakness his hat. Taking off his hat makes him weaker. Thats it. It’s just such a boring and disappointing change, especially since Mr. Mxyzptlk is technically one of the characters that Lois or Jimmy could defeat on their own if they devised a unique way to outsmart him. It’s just that I felt like My Adventures With Superman had a lot of potential that got wasted.

Uh, they were not 'anime fans'. They didn't understand one thing about how Anime tropes or why they work... And the crew did work on Owl House which explains why they don't actually understand what or why Superman does what he does. Also, 'Lois' is not 'cute' she's manipulative and a liar, this is not someone anyone wants in their lives, she risked her own life on a gamble and did the EXACT THING she JUST said she'd NEVER do. Because no one in Metropolis has phones with cameras to capture some flying dood catching a psycho woman. Who if she was wrong, would have made him look like a murderer! Oh, and she'd be dead.

Honestly I thought it was fine. And a step in the right direction. Not the best or perfect by any means as there are things to criticize but yeah this was handled a lot better than I was expecting them too after almost a decade of crap from western entertainment. From what I understand it barely passed for a season 2 so hopefully the writers of this show are taking the legit criticisms and learn to improve the writing and handling of episodes especially since it looks like we will be seeing zod. So yeah Lois and Clark were handled very well, clunky in a couple of spots and I do get the general of what they're going for with superman here and I think the writers felt like they had to make the villains be something equal to superman who is learning his powers bit by bit by h ing the villains gain their powers through mutations from using what we now know is Kryptonian technology. So it is a decent idea to balance the scales out a bit. So I do give it a recommendation to check out as it least does pique my interest in how season 2 will go.

However, I have to point out that the Louis's have an base full of non Superman related items, like *Mr Mxyzptlk's hat* . Meaning the Leage of Louis isn't Clark bias, they just aware that a Clark CAN become a bad guy. I do admit that the criminals that Superman was facing at the start were underwhelming and COULD have been used better, BUT, I think that they did good on serving the audience a good view on how dangerous Kryptonian technology can be, and how dangerous Operation Zero Day IS. The General, Wallerx and Slade were willing to put kids in danger to get Superman captured. Now with Waller in charge, I fear how many egg producers will have to rot just so she can make ONE omelet.

The writers have a better understanding of Superman than Zack Synder and James Gunn. I will admit that the romance was rushed, most of the villain designs are bland and boring, and the Lois getting mad at Clark about his secret was just annoying. Why must every female love interest get pissed over their boyfriend for being a superhero. Also Brian and Mallah actually have a surprisingly healthy relationship and I doubt Brain wanted to groom mallah. The romance just slowly developed. And the multiverse was introduced far too quickly. Honestly the multiverse has become overexposed by this point.

Many people just forgets that superman is a Classic hero, who embodies a good and firm moral compass. But, does not necessary mean that compass is invincible nor it is messy. (This comment is made less than 1 minute in the video; it might be covered, later.) The character redesigns are 100% aping the redesign aesthetic found in the 2018 She-Ra, with a primary difference of allowing more literally-adult characters. But the style is *extremely* similar to the She-Ra show, and the... I don't know... ideology? ... design principles? ... "aesthetic" again? - whatever it is, the way the characters are redesigned is directly comparable to the way they were redesigned for She-Ra. She-Ra 2018 itself heavily drew upon work in Avatar: the Last Airbender for character aesthetics that was filtered through a fantasy/She-Ra palette and scope. (You can see the actual A:tLA aesthetic principles modified through western fantasy at work in The Dragon Prince, but 2018 She-Ra was clearly inspired by a combination of A:tLA and the softer experiences of things like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but with the 80s retro-futuristic sensibilities of the original She-Ra instead of strictly modern fantasy.) Another critically important source of aesthetic is Voltron: Legendary Defender, itself a precursor to She-Ra 2018's. I guess in a way, MAoS actually harkens a little more back to V:LD's style than SR2018, if only because they allow older characters, a wider variety of designs, and a bolder color palette. Either way, you can see the clear comparisons made between the three shows and can see A:tLA's influence (even if it wasn't a conscious decision). This contrasts with, say, the redesigns for the *The Masters of the Universe: Revelation* aesthetic. And, absolutely, My Adventures of Superman is it's own thing - my point isn't that anything was stolen, but to point to clear visual trends and aesthetic influences that led to its development.

Instead of the league of lois (which is lame) how about the legion of superheroes or the league of supermen and have Tim Daly and/or George Newbern reprise their role

Personally I would like ultra humanite and Dolores winters instead the brain and mallah. And I would switch heatwave with volcana and have volcana be the first villain/weapon dealer instead of livewire. And eventually Leslie Willis (who a rival to jimmy) become livewire and challenge superman only to be caught by deathstroke.

"MJTanner's 'My Adventure with Superman' is a thrilling new take on the Man of Steel that infuses heavy anime influences into the classic Superman mythos. The animation style is visually stunning and adds a whole new dimension to the character, making him feel fresh and exciting. The plot is engaging and full of action, with plenty of nods to classic Superman lore for fans to enjoy. Although the anime influence may not be for everyone, 'My Adventure with Superman' is a bold and exciting new direction for the character that's sure to please fans both old and new."

So here's my thoughts. I as must liked that they maintained Clark's good nature character in this. I think some of the stuff with the military is good and some of the other characters are handled well. What I didn't like was how they changed most of the villains in the show to the point where they're unrecognizable and replays all mutant characters into tech villains. The thing that irritates me about this change there is no reason to have to have most of the villains have this equipment, mainly intergang and that gender bent flame villain who were changed to be incompetent and just delinquents. There's no reason for the government to use them and no reason them to keep obtaining this advance weapondry. The second reason is the government could just take the tech, which was already there's for there soldiers who should have experience with it. The other thing I don't like is the over antagonizing of kryptonians. It wouldn't be a problem if it was just that insadent involving aliens but had to be kryptonians and also had that holograme of evil Supermen in that awful episode in the multiverse. I feel like it's a bit overboard. Those were my thoughts.

Honestly, there's potential with this show and some choices work with Superman lore all right but does suffer some odd choices and pacing issues. A lot of the character designs already feel like a mix of trying to check boxes for diversity and anime cliches. Like you mentioned event though Slade is white and blonde (like he was when he was younger before he got white hair) he looks nothing like he usually does and more like his sons have in the past. Totally agree they missed an opportunity making Livewire Jimmy's online foil, she even could have kept her race swap and bad haircut too and still work. It not only be more faithful to her original character while putting a fresh spin on it but really as a generic arms dealer she's basically in-name -only. I also don't get not using an original Superman fire villainess in Volcana and just gender swapping male Flash villain Heatwave. Also, original black male character Ron becomes a woman. Because reasons. I totally get why the showrunners would want to "try something new" but there's a difference between putting a fresh spin that makes sense with a character to a drastic overhaul where all they have in common with previous versions is their name. I remember some parallels to The Batman cartoon from 2006 where it leaned in a very anime designs with drastic redesigns of villains but was more boys action cartoon than girls romcom. TB got better as it went on and hopefully MAwS does too if only it be nice Clark gets more decent material that doesn't try to turn him into what everyone parodies him as.

I think they should have done the route with Jimmy since he's a Superman fan what could end up happening is he witnessed Superman killing someone and believing he did it on purpose. And due to that misunderstanding, he vowed to destroy the man who truly was pretending to be a hero and his mind. Or he witnessed Superman cover up a murder that he accidentally did is so just outright saying it some skew thing for another universe and he says collecting other jimmies after they do their research on their Superman to see which one is a good one and which one's a bad one in the bad ones become executioner style hunt them down. Maybe even Lois Lane work where dark Superman and escape to this Clark's universe and the League of jimmies are hunting her down.

The evil KZbinr thing with Livewire is SUCH a missed opportunity! I felt like she was just another standard criminal in this. Also did anyone else feel that the fights were a bit too Disney? I felt like Clark wasn't allowed to actually fight back sometimes with the villains either being defeated by their own hubris or a random piece of the scenery falling on them. I get that they were trying to go for a 'nicer' superman but he's almost a bit TOO nice to the point of being a bit soft. I can't picture this one doing the famous 'Superman Stare' with an intimidating face and crossed arms. I don't wanna yuck anyone's yum but it just didn't sit right with me.

Not that it's needed, but if they bring in any other heroes, I'd be okay with an older Bruce Wayne showing up or referenced. Just something that popped into my head when Vicki Vale showed up as Louis's role model.
