I'm usually indifferent to these type of bikes but this particular design is very cool. That color just pops and really serves to accentuate that classic style. Pretty impressive.

Mount the engine mounting bolts with the head facing up. If the nut comes off you have a better chance of not losing the bolt. In aircraft maintenance if you put the nut up you would probably be fired.

A very nice video, well done. Appreciate you. I would like to add that if you don't do much riding off road, one thing you can do to make your bike faster and improve the range and ride quality is to replace the factory knobby tires with a set of good street tires of the same size. Switching the off road tires for a set of smooth street tires offers advantages and improvements you will notice immediately. The street tires have less rolling resistance than the knobby tires so your millage and speed will both increase. They are also much quieter and give you a better ride and control when riding on pavement, it's Win-Win. Thanks again _ great video.

After I had Rocker off road shocks installed on my front wheel by a professional bicycle mechanic, I truly appreciate the double Lock down instead of spacer approach. When it's important there is no replacing a professional. Rear Disk brake is 100% impressive bye the way.

Always blue on everything and tight if it comes loose. use red like on my back phat moto sprocket my 2019 back sprocket is not hub piloted - center suported not good. Why things come loose more often when on these bikes no rubber motor mounts like cars, trucks, generators and more to reduce vibration.
@tomtee4442
@tomtee4442 3 жыл бұрын
Phat moto has solid motor mounts so it wiggles stuff loose like my muscle car with solid motor mounts typical things loose too. I always use blue lock type on everything and if the bolts come loose I put red loctite back in it I never had to use heat backing off blue, red or even green loctite bolts. But when bolts come out or loose they can strip threads break things be a real disaster and leave you stranded. I've seen it a lot from do-it-yourselfers not getting bolts tight enough and doing things right the first time.

@miguel360kmc

As said its not a complete assembly... HOWEVER its a mass production bike 🏍 made with cheap parts. When you get it you NEED to take apart everything grease and oil what should be greased or oiled lockthight everything than ride it. Thats how i got over 20,000 miles on more or less a stock bike. I did upgrade jackshaft bearings highly recommend doing that right away makes it easier plus the stock bearings suck night and day with some good ones. 👍 even had a bad wreck on my bike folded my CDH forks rim still good! Bike still starts 1 pull but is finally running ruff and gets hot 🔥 fast!

The build quality of the Phatmoto Rover looks excellent. A solid engine mount, is better than the clamp on plates used on other setups including my 4 stroke, to the fixed countershaft and reinforcement gussets. How about changing the exhaust to a pipe and silencer [ no hot exhaust blowing on your leg ]. I have fitted a 39cc 4 stroke Huaseng to an Avalanche Cruz88. The engine is outboard on the LHS. Busy with changing the sprocket to a 49T from 44T. I live in a hilly area, so need more low down pull over speed and it is a small engine. Will wait for the upgrades. .

Did you lube the chains ? Also why don't they use a spring loaded chain tensioner, I made one on my motorized kit ,which requires a lot of substitution of factory supplied nuts & bolt which are Chinese garbage , this phatmoto bike is well designed and less maintenance required than a ebay kit , the biggest issue with those are bolt on engine to frame mounts and chain guide aka tensioner, periodic inspection is required for safety, the phatmoto bike solves that issue, except the lack of spring loaded tensioner, update, the newer ones have 7 speed cassette and shifter .

I always soak my chain with 90 weight gear oil and take A clean cloth to get off any Excess. It will penetrate the Rollers. Never use greese on Chain it will not penetrate the Rollers. If u have a used chain Make Shure u clean it with a Brush and solvent dry it off and Put oil on a cloth and soak your Chain with it and then take another cloth and clean off any Access .this will save your chain And I have been using this trick For over 50 years . Check your chain often and make Shure u Don't have more then half inch Of slack up and down in your Chain that way u save your sprokets from wear to soon👱

I would have used a different exhaust. A chrome pipe that came forward and then down around the cover and back toward the rear wheel. Then use a chrome heat shield on the top part of the exhaust to the first bend of the chrome pipe. That would make the bike really stand out, and keep the riders leg from having to move out and away from that cage.

UPDATE - the kick stand was hitting the rear brake disc. Not just touching and sanding the kick stand but cut a 1/16th inch cut into the stand. Had to use a blow torch to heat and pull/ bend the stand. That helped a little bit. Finally used a zip tie and tied it up to the frame. It's nice a secure. On the good note - Did 35 mile per hour top speed at 3/4th throttle. Did not want to push it any more. lol. Mods - I took off all the throttle assembly and mounted the base plate on top of the engine on one of the OHV bolt and installed the throttle arm and a L- bolt from Home Depot and a throttle bolt to connect to the throttle cable. A cruiser handlebar from my old Huffy and a spring saddle also from my old Huffy. A Suntour 80mm front suspension fork. The stock fork came damaged and bent and tampered. Would not fit the wheel. VERDICT - Yes I like it.

Installed blue lock tite when on new center crank nuts later loosened. Bent bolt got a new one added red lock tite tightened tight. I have turned wrenches for the years all ways use lock tite. For rust prevention, backing off, breaking off, stripping threads out when coming loose and more! I always say do the job right the first time. So you don't have to do it a second time possibly get hurt spend more down time and money. So many people I have come behind and fixed things for not doing the job right and stuff not tight with lock tite the first time and not thinking (What could go wrong with what I'm doing?)

Use a moly or graphite or copper lube, high temperature for sure, the clutch gets very hot, you just want a thin film of lube on the bushing, and bore.. a spray oil is not a good idea, lube used for disc brakes will be great, at the minimum a white lithium grease will work, but no lube, will equal no clutch, don't ask how I know, but it will eventually fall apart, and re-lube at least yearly, clean and oil the chain after riding, about monthly, you would probably never need another chain, carb cleaner works great to clean, don't get it on paint, it can remove it, and some plastic parts, if not else, a couple oz of gas, and old toothbrush, and lube with spray white lithium grease, roll the wheel a few times, then wipe the excess grease from the chain, the solvent in the grease will get it into the chain, evaporate and thicken, wiping the excess will keep it from getting on everything!!!.. the clutch only needs greasing more often, if it's idling a lot, at speed it's like it's not even running, the shaft and hub is spinning at the same speed, no friction, and avoid slow takeoffs, it slips the clutch, causing heat, it's best to throttle and go! 👍
