2 week transformation of this ensuite for a customer from the initial strip out to the final clean up.... and everything in between....
I went through this in the design stage and put some ideas how we could make more use of the space by moving the toilet & sink and fitting the towel rail on the other side of the room...
Very happy customer and that’s the main thing.... really enjoyed this refurb..
Plumbing day to day from leaks to bathroom instals, dripping taps to radiator power flushes and fault finding

Tip for toilet brackets. Fit them to the toilet with double sided on the bottom of them. Put toilet in place and then remove the screws. Lift it up and brackets are left stuck in the right place for drilling 👌🏻 I’m a jack of all trades but fitted 100’s of bathrooms

Or just put your pan where you need it, and silicone it in place. Just have to tell the customer not to use it for 12 hours. I think I've only ever screwed about 2 down in my life. Never had a problem with that, and personally think it gives a more substantial fixing than those poxy brackets.

Great video as usual and love the finished result - particularly the floor tiles. After fitting loads of showers / enclosures / panels in to rock hard porcelain tiles I’ve found it handy to keep a few tea light candles in my tool box - you can dip your drill bit in to cool down and prolong it’s life and once it goes hard again there’s no chance of it spilling and making a mess 👍

Hi. I used to be a bathroom fitter myself so i appreciate all the hard work and unseen hassles involved in these types of refurbishments, like fixing other peoples bodges lol. My question is regarding the floor joist span in that room. They seemed very far apart from each other, but that's what the builder/architect/planning dept etc all decided on. I've had issues in the past with shower tray-to-wall silicone seals failing due to subtle floor movement over time. So whenever i had to open up a glued & screwed chipboard flooring for anything I would refit it with extra bracing afterwards. Just something to watch out for in the future....

Yes you have to watch flex on floors especially new builds. Pays to brace up then over ply. Then add your floor system such as decouples. Seen loads of cracked or loose tiles due to movement.

Great video and great install thanks for taking the time to make the video personally I think a “proper plumber” knows in that situation when ur dropping the tray and tightening from above a flexi is less likely to leak than hard piping it. Hard pipe can leave the trap sitting at a slight angle under the floor so when u tighten it from above it doesn’t seal correctly to the tray and it can also cause u to cross thread the top piece. Flexi is the way to do it and why they make them. if they didn’t work they wouldn’t make them in first place Someone’s taken the time to film and edit a video and someone comes out with that proper plumber rubbish 🤯 blows my mind

Gorgeous job mate but wouldn't of put compression elbows on the towel rail in the wall, personally would of cleaned off the chrome ends for inside the wall and soldered copper elbows and pipe on to transition into the plastic further down. @@MJTiffPlumbing We all have different experience with fittings and products, I've just found in the past when people have used compression fittings inside a wall on chrome pipe if you've ever needed to undo the fittings on the towel rail afterwards that'll be the time when the fitting in the wall gives up and causes an issue. It's fine if you know and you've put it in but pity the poor sod after you. Hence always be soldered copper for me. Also a grinder? Of all the materials and products on the market that's the one that's dead last.

I've been in plumbing for 35 years fitting bespoke bathrooms in London the thing that PI**ES me off the most is plumbers putting silicon on the back of shower plates... its not needed! I know alot of bathroom reps and ALL say the same (not needed)Think of maintenance! ..anyway Good vlog .

Don’t let something like that piss you off mate.... it’s just a shower plate.. I would rather seal around it than risk water seeping in.... but each to there own, the manufactures literature asked for it to be sealed as most do I have found, as for the Reps saying it.... they ain’t fitting it🤣🤣 Some do it one way, some do it another... just do what works for you 👍🏼👍🏼

Nearly all shower instructions say put a small bead of silicone near edge of cover plate, alot say dont do bottom so if shower cartridge leaks it will come out of bottom of cover plate. Needs a 3mm bead near outside of plate so if done like that I knife blade is plenty long and good enough. To cut through. So if shower is under shower head u dont seal it??

I was wondering if you could do a video or explain on how to isolate different parts of a bathroom when it comes to renovating it? Like i have a towel rail and instead of draining the whole system down is there a way to just isolate that part, and the same with the shower? most things like the toilet or taps will have an isolation valve on so you can turn it off to change taps etc, but i dont think most showers will have this? Just curious as im going to be undertaking these tasks in the next month and would be cool to know if there is a way to change without draining a whole combi boiler system. Also a bonus question, i see you use a lot of plastic pipe, even behind tiles, ive been told that its not a good idea because its more prone to leaking. is this true? I think it's better if your a novice or DIYer because you dont have to solder.
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing 3 жыл бұрын
Your best off turning the water off completely to do the shower work to be honest, just as easy as isolation valves . As for plastic pipe people have there own view..... I’ve been fitting it for years and never had an issue, if it’s cut right, inserts used it’s not a problem.
