Those scenes weren't Precious' dreams but more like fantasies and an escape when she was going through trauma....when you hear ppl say they have out of body experiences when going through something violent or traumatic, this is was Precious' representation of that

To make matters worse, in the sequel novel.. Precious dies at the very start and her son Abdul gets sent to an orphanage where is he r*ped and abused and he eventually ends up becoming a sexual abuser himself. Like it's so sad that Precious never got to reach any dreams and her kids never got to benefit from the beautiful person that she could have became, it just ended in more misery.

Great reaction. This movie was a hard pill for me to swallow and was very bittersweet. I remember viewing it when it hit the theaters. It had me in very deep thought. It was sweet because she was able to attain & exercise agency in her life for betterment but very bitter because of all the evils that happened to her. No kid should ever experience this kind of stuff ever. But yeah, very serious movie and this is one of those flicks that I’d really have to watch solo because it makes me angry and tear up.

I was only briefly a bully because I was tired of being bullied. So I picked a few fights with a few bullies myself, in high school its like shooting fish in a barrel, but I had enough. So I fought dirty as can be, and got all the weird kids left alone for a few years. My favorite thing now is for people to meet me, love my vibe, find out its me, and tell me how horrible the stories are. When they get the full story, theyre always on my side. I never got to fight MY bully unfortunately as he was a rich guy, but he unalived himself. Homeboy hated himself but in the end, he was always just weak and scared. Stay tough.

Those visions weren’t “dreams” of Precious’, it was a coping mechanism for her to escape from her messed up reality. Also back then believe it not you could actually smoke in the hospital my mom was telling me how they were all smoking in the room when my older cousins (born in the 70’s and 80’s) were born so it’s not odd that Mary thinks it’s okay to smoke around the baby. And Precious wasn’t emotionless so much as she was remaining strong throughout the movie despite all the bad things she went through but the HIV diagnosis broke her. It’s truly a very sad, very heavy scene.

The part where precious comes home after giving birth that’s just part of the movie where I had to ask the question why. you’ve been having this hatred towards your daughter because you’re mentally sick in the head boyfriend/husband, great job picking him up by the way prefers to SA his own child been had consensual sex with you? And if you sit back, and you kinda analyze the situation, that man really messed up the entire family like’s Monique’s character was still an awful mother and a horrible human being, but it makes me kind of wonder what were to happen if precious his father didn’t SA her. But then again, her mother probably still would’ve abused her because precious still took care of her, and this woman was sitting in front of her saying, “who else was gonna love me?”

Precious life was just awful. What could this young lady have done in any of her previous lives or her current life then to deserve this? Cause I’m telling you right now if that was my life,When I get up to heaven, I’m gonna throw hands with God. Sorry Jesus, but I have to give you the vicious case of the beats. But seriously if this is somebody’s life, from being sexually abused by your own parents since the age of three, birthing two incest children, and dying before even turning 18 ,while your other parent is trying to take your head off every chance they get, oh yeah if that was my life they’d need security for me in heaven. All in all this is a very powerful movie. I don’t think it’s for anyone’s peace and sanity, but you get the message they were trying to send out. Unfortunately, the author of the book that this movie is based off of made second book, and in the next book precious dies a year after all of the events happen from aids, her son was sent to a foster home and suffered the same fate as her, and eventually did the same thing to someone else. I haven’t read the book, but that’s what the premise of the book was.
