Do you notice that John Witherspoon and Anna Maria Horsford who both portray Craig's parents are from The Wayans Bros (1995-1999). Horsford plays Dee as a Security Guard from Neiybayer Plaza, and Witherspoon plays the role of Pop, Shawn and Marlon's father who runs the diner in Harlem, NY.

I also Disagree with you MJ Day Day's life wasn't in shambles cuz of Craig, never had been it's Day Day himself when Craig moved in with DayDay in Next Friday his life was already screwed up anyway, if anything Craig got Day Day to relax a little with weed.

Have you ever seen Boomerang? 90's comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, and more. Johnny Witherspoon has a great scene in it, and the Landlady from this film ("Wolfpussy"😂😂😂) played his wife in the scene. Boomerang had a banger soundtrack and was funny as hell too. The first Friday was a solid classic and felt made for the love. The second, Next Friday was still good I thought. It worked even though it was maybe a bit of an unnecessary sequel. It felt right as a continuation of that style and character of humor. The thing is, it gave me hope that they could keep this going, and that Friday After Next would be just as good. But from the moment Craig's manic cousin decides to go chase some OAP's and treat them as some security issue, and then Craig has to mellow him out with some 'herbs' (shall we say), something felt wrong. It felt like it was all desperate contrivances and no heart now. They were trying to manufacture another Friday movie rather than weaving its natural essence. By the end of it I just remember I hated it and was glad it was over.

A few things: They left the hood for the second movie, no Chris Tucker, repeated the same jokes (mostly about doo doo), situations felt contrived. The sequels had no tension or drama, all just silly jokes. Craig and Smoky had serious problems to deal with along with the comedy of the side characters. Deebo was a frightening bully, Worm was a psycho who really would have smoked anyone who played with his money. The other two films just don't hold up. They feel more like TV spinoffs than movies.
