After a dismal start to the 90’s for Eddie, this movie and role was a return to form for him. Eddie was burning on all cylinders with this one, and his follow-up film Metro is a highly underrated action thriller. Hopefully you get a chance to check that one out. Yes, Jada was in this one. This movie along with Set It Off, made 96’ a successful year for her. I really wished she would have been in the sequel. No disrespect to Janet, but I would have liked to have seen the relationship between Carla and Sherman fully realized. This is also a remake of the 1963’ film of the same name. Although the premise is slightly different, the plot is about the same. Jerry Lewis, the star of the original, wanted to make a sequel for decades but settled for the remake instead.

I still don’t understand why Jada didn’t return in the sequel. Apparently it was because she was pregnant with Jaden. Having Sherman with a new love interest in the sequel (Janet) ruined the whole message of the first film. So yeah I agree. I would have also have liked to see the relationship of Carla and Sherman fully realised.

I also felt bad for Sherman, like he started out his research out of pure intentions to help people, but became more selfish and desperate like he said, and it seemed that he enjoyed being Buddy because as buddy he was more confident and liked by everyone and probably even thought about being that way permanently because all he ever wanted was to have people notice him. But a silver lining is like said, in a way, Buddy did teach Sherman to be more confident and just be himself so in a way, it was a win

He also plays multiple roles in another wacky comedy fave of mine, "Bowfinger". In that, he's both the super successful (and TOTALLY CRAZY) star actor, and the totally dorky assistant who keeps haplessly getting sent to get coffee and such. He's really funny in both of them. Also the catchphrase line he's supposed to yell at the "aliens" to get them to go away in the fake-movie's climax, is "I'm gonna get you sucka!!" so that's fun. :)

Eddie eas a huge student of old movies and famous movie characters. This was originally done by the madter of comedy in the 50s, by the guy who sang danced played instruments, wrote directed starred in everything, Jerry Lewis. Also called the Nutty Professor. Jerry would play multiple characters, just like Eddie can do.

I feel the first one is more classical than the second one. The second one had some moments especially when Sherman and Dean Richmond track Buddy Love and Sherman losing his intelligence. That was a very sad moment but luckily Denise tear wet the spot Buddy’s Liquid died at on the fountain, and he was apart of the water and Sherman could drink it to get it back 💯

If u haven't seen the original, it's a masterpiece. Jerry Lewis wrote produced directed acted dance choreographed all his movies. He could sing and play many instruments. His downstairs walk for the movie Cinderfella alone, should have won an Oscar! He should have won many Oscars for his original. But he was always snubbed, considered just a comedian. Great reaction. I always liked this movie. It's a perfect combination of absurdist comedy and genuine heart-felt moments. Oh, and per what you were talking about regarding the government listening then giving you ads based on what you talk about; your phone's microphone never turns off. It's the same with all smart phones. Even if you're not using your phone the mic is still listening to what you're saying. I think this is how they get information about what they market to people. It sounds crazy but might actually be happening. It's already been proven to be happening with Alexa so why not smart phones, in general?

If you still want Eddie Murphy movie recommendations (to just watch, I'm aware you only take review requests on Patreon), one I haven't seen anybody mention yet is "Bowfinger" (1999). It's about a failed movie director (Steve Martin) trying to make a movie with a ridiculously tiny budget--including having it "star" a really famous actor, but NOT. TELLING HIM. HE'S IN IT. Eddie Murphy plays a double role, as both the (totally neurotic) ACTION STAR actor, _and_ the really dorky assistant character. The whole movie is just...SO funny. I highly recommend it. :)
