"MJX BUGS 3 PRO Range Test #2"... My Bugs 3 Pro, in this video, flew out over 1,000 meters, reaching the same distances as the previous Bugs models. I can't explain why or how this occurred as opposed to my first range test, but I'm pleased!!! She now get's another "one half thumbs up," 👍 making the total, 1.5 thumbs up, or if I base it on the Olympic scale, it's about a "7" ... that's up from the previous "6" Lol! POW!!! -djsoulforce!

We have our 4 year old grand daughter stay with us every other week so when she leaves we run up to our Michigan cabin to work on it. My wife lost her Mom on July 4th. and 6 days earlier she lost her Dad, both to cancer. We now have 6 grand kids and absolutely love it when they are around. They can make a crappy day just melt away. Some day things will slow down. Maybe this fall I will take up to our cabin my Yuneec Q500+ and get some good video. I really do enjoy your videos. Thank you my friend.

My son and I just picked up a couple on eBay each with 2 batteries used condition for right about $140.00 each. Anyhow yesterday with just a little 200mw aio 5.8ght tx he pushed out to about 700 meters with no interruptions, surrounded by cornfield so no real interference, no signal problems or anything. Every drone we get new or used I go through it checking connectors, oil top and bottom bearings with synthetic oil and lastly I eventually always do the tx controller antenna sma connector for a 5dbi or so antenna. They will run pretty much forever if you maintain them. Mine eventually will have a battery connector mod added for 3s capabilities for carrying the gimbal and GoPro. She wouldn't go up past 10' high with the standard battery with tri blade 7045 props. Very disappointed but like I said I will be remedying that soon. Maybe even fit in some original b3 motors or 1806 2306 or something like that motors. Only found 1 guys videos on such mods and reasons being the gimbal and camera lifting problem.. I think for now I'm going to try swapping out some regular bugs3 1806 1700/1800 whichever they actually are, motors onto my b3 pro . Generally speaking they seem to be more powerful and I have lifted up the setup with my original b3. Other than that I'm just not exactly sure which motors I'd go with besides 1 guy on KZbin did this with 1806 2300kv successfully, which seems confusing to me a little as higher kv is supposed to be going the wrong direction as far as lifting power..🤦

Hey man, Scott in Detroit. Glad to see a better flite distance was obtained with your Bugs 3 Pro! I Was originally turned off with the battery(they keep changing the fittings,and we all know why), but with this distance you've definately regained the faith of the Bugs Community. Been flying my Bugs 2 and 3 all summer(too different animals) and have taught a number of my buddies to fly(with the B2 first,as they still kind of shy away from the B3) and gain the confidence to fly a quad. I think that a lot more grown folks would fly and take up the hobby if they had a little guidance :) I always refer them to your channel as your work with the various Bugs models make great teaching aids. I was pretty sure that your last AIO install was disturbing the range. What I noticed on this flight is that when you pitched the quad forward, you lost signal. It could be the location of the B3P's RX antenna inside. That TX would be very easy to mod. Open it, get rid of one of the FAKE antennas and replace it with a 5dbi or 7dbi vertical whip (some soldering required to attach the coax correctly to the PCB inside .. but its not rocket science). At least we know that the B3P is not a total disgrace to the legendary B3 (or the B2W/C). Nice to start off my rainy Tuesday with a DJ video. Supposed to rain all day (my lawn needs it) so I'll spend my time editing my latest video (another PARK!) and playing online Links2003 golf tournaments. POW!

Yeah, I figured the transmitter would be easy to mod, but I damn sure don't feel like going inside this stupid bird! Who the hell knows where MJX put the antenna for the RX, it's probably being blocked by the battery! Maybe one day, when I'm totally bored, I'll take it apart and take a look inside. BTW, just got my Viper Goggles, haven't opened the box yet but that review will be coming soon! POW!!! (stay dry brother!!!)

Shouldn't be too hard to relocate the RX antenna inside the B3P ... SeBy DocKy always recommends putting a little hole in the top of the shell and sticking the RX antenna straight up .. I've done it on all my toy grade quads. I think you'll really like the Viper Goggles. The only downside is that they come with crappy linear monopole antennas. Since you have birds with both linear and circular polarization (RHCP), it would be good to have one of each antenna type on the diversity antenna mounts. For RHCP, I like any of the high gain RHCP antennas by VAS (Video Aerial Systems .. all their antennas are hand built and tuned). Alternately, the cheap Aomway RHCP does a pretty good job. For the linear input, a linear patch, like the Menace RC Bandicoot would be a good selection. There are other linear patch antennas, but their performance is pretty disappointing. Rained most of the morning, but its now clear .. but only for a couple hours before more rain hits. Also a bit too windy to fly. At least I got my latest video edited .. only have the narration left to do. Well, back to 'gaming' on the computer ... POW!

That is correct, RTH turns on automatically whenever the drone loses signal from the radio for more than 5 seconds. The drone will also automatically RTH whenever the battery gets low. Thanks for watching and your questions!!!

say Soul brotha, your not high enough in this vid for max range. Anyway, has anyone done the antenna mods on this bird like we all did on the B2's that you know of. I was fixing to do my 2se then decided against it because the 2's just will not stay in the air very long, 3 pro will fly 25 min w the right battery, thats badass, so gonna mod it instead. There's a dude here on YT that went out 3 miles, Sean is his name i think, with a B2w. The drone itself has 2 antennas inside not one, he brought both out to external antennas, 4 in. looks badass w those duel antennas coming out the top. Then the remote has one inside that needs to be brought outside the unit, this mod everyone does. So my intent is to fly out there 3 miles and be able to FPV the whole way, Jay Drone has done some of this as well, he's setting me up w the FPV stuff, using the RunCam 2 or Q6...Roost

You know if MJX had just spent 30 cents more on these controllers to show that 4th digit, man that would be the bomb. When you roll your bugs out there to 999 you cant see it anyway, may as well keep going. You kkow any way to get an actual distance display of some kind, maybe somn to put on quad and somn else to put on tx, be nice to see exactly how far away you are. The method JayDrone uses you dont know till you get back how far you went. It has to be possible somehow to get a live feed on that it is 2020 lol.....Roost

My tablet came with a built-in screen recorder, that's how I was able to swipe down on the screen and start it while already in flight. Otherwise, during this flight, I would have had to close the FPV app to start my other screen recorder. In all of my other videos, I use the "AZ Free Screen Recorder" found in the Google Play Store and it works great... better than the one that came with the tablet! POW!!!

Watch this video again (go to 3:30) and check out how I swiped down to the settings menu. Then I swiped to the left, another screen appears, click on "SHARE" ... it's the screen recorder! Dude, don't ask me how I found it, I always knew the Shield Tablet had a built-in screen recorder, but there was no information on "how to find it!" I'm still learning how to set it up, that's why in this video, I was shocked when my front facing camera was also shown in the video... wasn't expecting that so I cut it out of the video!!! LoL!!! I wonder if the trees on the horizon is interfering with the signal loss between the transmitter and the copter? I've seen this happen on a few of distance tests. Have you noticed that some drones behave better than others? If the antennas are glued on the top of the transmitter, have you tried pointing the top of the transmitter to the drone instead of the back of it (monitoring the data)? Thanks for your posts. Since you hate proprietary batteries, unfortunately, your Bugs 3 Pro battery cannot be shared amoung the other Bugs (Original B3, B2C, B2W can share batteries). The Bugs 2W has a better onboard camera/DVR than the Bugs 2C, however, you must have a mobile device that can receive 5G wifi to recieve FPV video. The Bugs 2C only records onboard, no FPV. The Bugs 3H DOES NOT use a proprietary battery, but uses a (optional) 5G wifi camera and only has altitude hold, no GPS. I know you could max out the range on the Pro Model. I see the price already falling on this model, it's down to $119 at one the big stores. Which I guess makes it somewhat of a better deal, I'm still taking a pass on it. I like the raw, out the camera video. Kind of old school KZbin style. Even thought it made it out to 1000 meters, it's still somewhat of a disappointment to me. I've seen other videos of guys trying to add gimbals and sports cameras to it and it can't handle the payload. It's not TOO BAD, but not as strong as the original Bugs 3, so what's the point of the bigger motors? (I guess to make more Jell-O, hahaha!!!!) POW!!!

I saw someone had the BUGS 3 standard on sale for $49.99. You could get two less than the price of one Pro Model. MJX shouldn't have even messed with the design or the motors, they should have just put GPS in the original GPS, and than include a button to turn off GPS and AH. That would have been a winner.

I'm getting verified video lag at 100m high and 100m away from me on a 4 huaewi mate 10 pro.. How u getting range... Whats ur set up.. Any mods? I'm using mjx c6000 cam as I want the RTH button and GPS map function as you can't use bugs go without it.

In this video, I'm using a modified 5.8ghz FPV camera. The mods I did and the equipment I used are stated in the video and listed in the description of the video. BTW, you don't need to use the Bugs Go App for the RTH button to work, there's a RTH button on the transmitter. Using the MJX 5G wifi camera and the App, I could only get about 300meters. The Bugs 3 Pro control distance is over 1000 meters, however, the live FPV range will depend on your smart device, normally around 300 - 500 meters. Yes, same app. It's the Bugs Go App, used for all MJX GPS birds and wifi cameras. It's been updated recently and seems to work fairly well. I haven't had any problems with it cutting out, EXCEPT for if you go out of range, then it's still pretty slow to re-connect after you come back closer to home!
