Thnx Bill! Followed your method in the video, (except drilling through the board, for lack of tiny drill bit), but everything still worked out! Was tired of using the stock wall charger that came with the bugs 5w, because it takes too long and I'm not even sure that it properly balances the battery, to begin with.

seems that 3 in the center is the balance connecter. 2 on each of the sides are the actual discharge pins of + and -. for the charger, it's easy enough to make custom pin connectors with epoxy holding the pin positions. I did the same with my B3 mini.

You don’t have to use the heavy gauge wire that comes with the plug,charging doesn’t require thick wire cause the charge rate is not as demanding as flying,so just solder a thinner gauge wire to save space and won’t require too much heat to solder on the board.
@BillMRC5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) Yes, thank you, it is better to use a thinner gauge wire.

This will give the lowest resistance feed into the battery but I think I'd prefer to just add splices onto the balance lead wires. Much less chance of stuffing up that little circuit board.

Can you possibly solder on top of the charge wires that are already existing or will that short anything out. I’m about to mod my 5w,,just wanted your advice on THIS method..thanks ...
@crazytekkie16 жыл бұрын
Dear God people relax about the dangerous mod part. If you are that afraid, you probably shouldn't be messing with aircraft anyway after all the propellers are dangerous too.. Now onto the video, while it does drag a bit slow and with details above what's needed it still gives the critical points needed to make the super simple and non dangerous conversion. It's saved me from over 4 hrs of charging to now taking around an hour on my skyrc charger that would not recognize the batteries until this was done.

@@BillMRC It's the difference between waiting 4 hours or 1.5 hours to charge a Bugs 5 Lipo. I need to buy another charging adapter so I can charge 2 battery's at once.

Hi, I've got a question, i saw a video on youtube (I don't know if he was Indian guy, he did not spoke english though). He used a Syma X8 Pro charger to charge his B5W battery in 24mins, is that even possible? No balance charger or anything else straight plug and charge. Is it true you can do that...? Appreciate any comments and answers. Thank you 😊
@fbiagent33994 жыл бұрын
24min is definitely Highly not recommended.. bad bad idea
@sahhull5 жыл бұрын
Why not just extend 2 wires from the propitiatory plug to the back of the quadcopter, fit an XT socket? Then you can use cheaper generic batteries and charge them with a normal lipo charger. Everyone should learn how to solder. Heck I learnt at junior school (12 years old)
@BillMRC5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) This is a good alternative too :-)

Thanks Bill watched this today and did it straight away. Burned my finger but all good. It was hard getting solder to stick but I got there. Great mod legend. I have a question can I run a different camera say a RunCam 2 how do I link it to the app. I’ve pulled off there camera and I’m flying it with a RunCam by sight but I would love to see what I’m doing through the camera. What would you do boost the RunCam or try and hack it!
@BillMRC5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) I think that a Runcam 2 is a bit too heavy for this. I suggest mounting something like this on top with a small 1s battery: www.banggood.com/Eachine-TX04-PAL-Super-Mini-Light-AIO-5_8G-40CH-25MW-VTX-700TVL-120-Wide-Angle-FPV-Camera-p-1166418.html?p=FU171726284242015096 and you could use something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHmqXp1qmtirsMk . Here is something I did similar with a different camera: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHSUoImPds6prdk

@BillMRC6 жыл бұрын
Hi RJ, this was not my innovation, but I liked and risked it, and am very happy with the result. I have subsequently found an easier method requiring a cheap lipo charger, that can balance charge using the balance plug only, but this does not allow me to revert to storage capacity charging.
